Two-Blade to Tri-Blade - PID tuning?
#1
Question
Hello everbody,

I installed GemFan Flash 3 Blade props on my Eachine Novice 2, replacing the stock 2 blade props.

When flying fast or when diving I get prop wash. Now I know what prop wash really means. Haven't had this before with everything stock.

These are my PIDs:

set p_pitch = 46
set i_pitch = 90
set d_pitch = 38
set f_pitch = 95
set p_roll = 42
set i_roll = 85
set d_roll = 35
set f_roll = 90
set p_yaw = 45
set i_yaw = 90
set d_yaw = 0
set f_yaw = 90

And here is a screenshot of my betaflight settings.
From what I've read I think I need to change the "I" setting?

Does anyone have good first hint (or a general PID setting) for me?

if your -oszilations-, high or low, are throttle related. i would go for adjustements on the tpa feature. tpa would be on "rateprofile" page.

as all of the settings are default. you could go for a try on uavtechs tuning preset. what bf version are you running actual?
https://theuavtech.com/presets/

my personal choice would be emuflight, it has tuning presets in the configurator and is specialy nice on micros. i use it on the most micros. its a fork of bf3.5, same sort of configurator use. give it a try ;-)

I am using Betaflight 4.2.9.
I think the settings are the defaults that come with BF 4.2.9. Will try TPA.

On my modded 75mm Mobula6 HD tinywhoop I use Emuflight with settings from Project Mockingbird. But for my 2.5" toothpick I wanted to have the RPM filtering.

I would check to see if any one the props are bent.

I tried those props on my Phantom 2.5 HD, and I loved them when they were perfect, but even a tiny flip-over on grass while landing would seem to bend one blade a little. This would then cause a ton of jello in my video feed at certain throttle inputs. I would have to carefully turn each prop around while holding my finger where the tip of the blades pass to find the bent one and straighten it out.

I don't know if what you are describing comes from the props, but you could try other similar props and see if they work better.

If you want another high-pitched racing style prop these are good:
Azure Power 2540

Or if you want a little less pitch, I like these HQ v2s 2520 https://www.racedayquads.com/products/hq...2c48&_ss=r

I would check the ones you have to make sure they are all perfectly straight. Or try out other 2.5" Tri-Blades. Simply going from bi-blade to tri-blade shouldn't be causing oscillations. So it could be props out of balance or bent.
