I enjoyed my previous Source One build and have been wanting to build another one since I lost the first. This time I used a custom camera mount for this frame placing the FPV camera on top of the Go Pro. This added some extra length for larger batteries and just looks badass. I used a lot of the components from the punisher that I was able to salvage. Here is the build list: Frame- TBS Source One 7" Dead Cat Motors- Brother Hobby Avenger 2808 1900kv Flight Controller- Holybro Kakute F7 V 1.5 (repurposed from Punisher) ESC- Tekko 32 F3 45A 4-in-1 (Rev. C) RX- TBS Crossfire Nano Diversity (repurposed from Punisher) RX Antenna- Bard Pole and TBS Immortal T VTX- TBS Unify Pro 32 HV (repurposed from Punisher) VTX Antenna-Foxeer Long Range (repurposed from Punisher) Camera- Foxeer Falcor 2 (repurposed from Punisher) Here are a couple Pictures. I didn't go too in depth with the build pictures. Just a couple of the finished product. I will have some flight footage very soon. I plan on surfing many mountains with this Guy. These motors have no problem lifting this beast in the air even with a 3300mah 5s lipo. Looks sweet, Will.... What HD cam will you use? What blades are those? And, what's the RX antenna? I think you will love those motors, and 5S power. I look forward to the videos! Picacho Peak here you come!!! EDIT: Were you able to get the CG spot on with the battery on top? TruRC Bardpole I think you will love those motors, and 5S power. 5S has been my go to for my 7" builds. Definitely lots of power. These motors pick this big bastard up like it was an ultra light. I was able to do a little freestyle even with that big battery. Flips and rolls are nothing for this guy lol. I look forward to the videos! Picacho Peak here you come!!! That's funny you say that Krohsis. I was just talking to a friend about flying Picacho Peak on our next endeavor. EDIT: Were you able to get the CG spot on with the battery on top? I knew it was something like that. It seems to be pretty well balanced. I do have some jello in the video and I can't find an SD card compatible with it for some reason, so I am not able to use black box currently. Maybe due to upgrading to Betaflight 4.3? I am having the same issue with the 10 inch and gave up trying to find one compatible. • Posts: 3,533 Threads: 265 Likes Received: 2,610 in 1,545 posts Likes Given: 3,893 Joined: Feb 2018 Reputation: 78 (05-Dec-2020, 11:56 PM)wllmlutz Wrote: Oh. One of the biggies for us LR guys is reducing range If CG is off the heavy end motors have to work much harder and burning battery to make the quad fly as commanded. I went to bottom batteries on my 10 inch for a number of reasons, but one of them was the freedom to get a good CG, particularly with bigger batteries. You have the whole underside of the quad to move the battery to get spot-on CG. Also, not usually talked about, but have the battery on the centerline as well for the same reasons. Hunting for jello issues are always a pain. Most of the time jello is mechanical, vibration induced. Shakes or wobbles of the quad, like when turning, etc. that frequently is more tune related, but can be mechanically induced as well, like with flexy blades. If you have jello in the HD cam and not in the FPV cam, it likely is mechanical, lol...but not always. Yeah, the guy that designed the FR7, designed the specs for those motors and had BH build them for a group buy. BH has since made them part of their inventory now because they sell so well. They sell well because they are perfect for a 7 inch. So great choice!! The frame manufacturer can tell you exactly where CG is, but on the FR10 it is about where the rear arms connect to the frame, IIRC. I actually got them for a smoking deal on getfpv. $17.99 a piece. I wasn't going to buy new motors for this frame because I have a set of BH 2507 motors but couldn't pass up the deal. They pick this quad up like nothing even with that huge battery. I haven't flown them enough to really give an opinion on efficiency but am happy with them so far. • Posts: 788 Threads: 47 Likes Received: 543 in 341 posts Likes Given: 820 Joined: Apr 2020 Reputation: 7 (08-Dec-2020, 04:40 PM)klnyc Wrote: Loved the Session mount.. I don't have this stl file but I can share the original that i started with. you might be able to ask Brent if he still has this file on hand. I'm sure he will print it for you. • Posts: 435 Threads: 76 Likes Received: 226 in 130 posts Likes Given: 154 Joined: Aug 2019 Reputation: 6 • |
