TBS CROSSFIRE XF TX
#1
Hello people, I am having trouble updating the wifi module in my TBS XF Micro Tx V.2 and keep on getting the message below. The crossfire unit is in my radio and hooked up to my laptop and I have followed your directions in this video  for doing this. Can you help please.

Thank you, Glenn Holden

Setting up WiFi on the TBS modules can be a bit of a PITA and some hours of trial and error. The whole process is clunky to say the least and I definitely ended up with less hair after finally completing the process, so I share a few of JB's frustrations on that.

Make sure you've installed the very latest version of the Crossfire firmware on your Micro V2 (currently v4.08) and also make sure you install the very latest WiFi firmware (currently v1.17) from the ZIP file linked to below. Be sure to use the firmware in the CROSSFIRE folder for that ZIP file. I suggest reinstalling (refreshing) the v4.08 firmware on your Crossfire Micro V2 first and then (re)updating the WiFi firmware.

I have now set up the WiFi on my Crossfire Micro V1, Crossfire Micro V2, and Fusion modules, but it wasn't plain sailing to do on any of those.

When TBS Cloud was first released about a year ago I tried setting it up and after hours of frustration I just gave up for the same reason. I was unable to get my Crossfire Micro TX V1 module it to connect to my home WiFi router. I just put it down to teething issues and the early v1.08 version of the WiFi firmware. Fast forward 11 months and with the purchase of a new Micro TX V2 I decided to try again. This time it was using the newer v1.17 version of the WiFi firmware. I did have some struggles but not as many as the first time I'd tried doing it. One of the differences this time was that I decided to connect everything to the WiFi hotspot on my phone rather than my home WiFi router, because when out in the field that is what I will have to use so it seemed illogical to connect everything up to my home WiFi only to have to then reconfigure everything again to connect to my phone before heading outside.

I did initially have some problems connecting to my phone WiFi hotspot but re-flashing firmwares coupled with changing the SSID of my phone hotspot to a more concise name and one that didn't contain any spaces seemed to get things working. Unfortunately in some of my frustration I ended up changing more than one thing so I don't actually know which of my actions eventually caused everything to start working.

I therefore suggest trying to connect to your mobile phone WiFi hotspot rather than your home WiFi router, and if that doesn't work then check to see if the SSID name of your phone is particularly long and/or has any spaces in it. If it does then change the name to be shorter and to exclude any spaces. If I had the appetite I would go back and try to figure out what actually made things work, but as everything is now connected and working I'm reluctant to start messing with it in case I can't get things reconnected again.

Fair enough, I wouldn't either. Thanks I'll try that
