TBS Agent Lite for your OpenTX / FreedomTX Transmitter
#1
Some people probably already know about this from the TBS live stream earlier today, but TBS have released a new LUA script for OpenTX and FreedomTX called "TBS Agent Lite". This is a new LUA script that has a similar look and feel to the TBS Agent X firmware on your computer and has a richer interface than the existing Crossfire LUA script.

It can be downloaded from the following link...

https://www.team-blacksheep.com/tbs-agent-lite.zip

You just need to unzip the contents to the \SCRIPTS\TOOLS folder of the SD Card in your transmitter. Then after doing that, when you long press the MENU button on your transmitter to get to the TOOLS menu, you will see a new "TBS Agent Lite" item in the list which you can just select and run.

The photos below show how the TBS Agent Lite LUA script renders itself on a TBS Tango 2, an FrSky X9D+, and a RadioMaster TX16S.

Tomorrow TBS will be officially announcing the "TBS Agent M" app for Android devices. This is already available on the Goggle Play Store HERE and has been for a few months but not in a properly working state, so I guess it was previously just released as a placeholder ready for tomorrow's launch. It's not clear if TBS will be releasing an iOS version but I guess we'll find out during the official announcement.

Installed on my TX16S. Seems like it works fine. (nicer looking menus)

I stuck it on my X9D+ yesterday and while it's obviously not as rich as on the colour screen transmitters, Agent TX Lite is way nicer to use than the standard Crossfire LUA script. It's also a bit faster too.

I just found out about the TBS lite for my crossfire today. I watched Josh Bardwells videos ect... and keep running into the issue for my X9D , I don't have a "Tools" folder in the Scripts section of my SD card. I see that you got yours running. Not sure how you did it! Smile Would love some advice! (I'm fairly new to the Taranis, brother got me into it - been mostly using Specktrum 6x.)

What version of OpenTX are you running? The "TOOLS" folder should be under the "SCRIPTS" folder. Do you have a "SCRIPTS" folder?

I'm running 2.2 on my Taranis X9D.  It has a "Script" folder, but no Tools folder.  I tried putting 2.3.11 on it using Open TX, but I was told by the program that it wouldn't work.  (I tried it anyway, and it failed to load the bootloader, so I had to revert back to 2.2)

You're on quite an old version of OpenTX so that is probably why. You will need to update both the bootloader and the OpenTX. The easiest way to do that is to leave your X9D+ switched OFF, plug in a USB cable and then use OpenTX Companion to flash the OpenTX 2.3.11 firmware with the X9D+ switched OFF. It will still get an active USB connection in that state. Doing that will then update both the bootloader and OpenTX in one go.

Once you've done that, reformat the SD Card to FAT32 (make sure you take a backup of the current contents first to a folder on your computer) and then extract the contents of the sdcard-212x64-2.3V0035.zip file at the following location to your SD Card...

Wow!!! Thank you so much for that detailed reply!  Very dumb question, will it matter that I have an X9D (no Plus)?  (Guess I'll find out very soon!!!  Thanks again!)

That's good news. There's a different SD Card content file for the X9D but I think it just contains exactly the same files as the ones for the X9D+. So you should be fine.

Yeah... the main differences in the X9D and Plus version are fairly cosmetic.  I got it all working yesterday afternoon!
