0 My Spektrum DX6 is a decent radio, but the build quality isn't great and I've heard so many good things about OpenTX that I'm finally considering switching over. There's only one problem: My entire fleet so far uses DSM recievers. I can replace the RX's on some of them, but I also have horizon hobby BNF products made for Spektrum that I'd like to keep flying. Is there a module that would let me use DSMX easily? I looked at the ORangeRX DSMX DSM2 tx module but it looks like it's been discontinued.

0 Hmm.. I've found OrangeRX on eBay but it's triple the price, I guess because it's been discontinued. Don't want to take apart the DX6 because I might sell it later. I didn't know that you could salvage the TX; I have an old DX5e laying around so I might try that.

45 I've read about issues with the iRangeX and Spektrum propocol. Only works with DSM2, not DSMX, and with some receivers there's a bug so you have to rebind with every power up
Dude, where's my quad?

1 Hi, I'm in a similar boat. I'm switching from a Spectrum DX7s to a Taranis X-Lite with iRX4 module.
As all my planes and most of my multi-rotors have DSM2 and DSMX receivers, I thought I'd start with the simplest one and try to bind with my Blade Inductrix. Following Youtube videos I've installed Open TX 2.2 and can bind with the Inductrix, but nothing happens. This quad operates without Betaflight and has no arming switches on my DX7s, but I can't get it to respond to the Taranis, despite saying it's bound. That's not quite true, because at one stage of my fiddling it suddenly powered up and shot off out of control. I suspect it is something to do with throttle setting, but reversing the throttle made no difference, and I haven't got the Inductrix to respond since, despite it apparently binding. (The TX announces, "telemetry lost, telemetry restored" when I switch it on and off.)
I was hoping if I could get the Inductrix to bind successfully, all my other stuff would work too, but maybe that's naive...
I've been trying to find a simple, introductory lesson in Open TX, without getting into all the complications, but haven't found one.
Cheers, Andrew

1 Thanks for helping me out, Voodoo614. I haven't been on forums for a while and I forgot how it goes.
Anyway, I'm making some progress on my own, and this thread you've pointed me to seems to be about the same stuff.
I'll try to post more appropriately in future.
