[Soldering] Cover your electronics when soldering!
#1
Solder balls can shoot all over the place when you melt solder wires. Don't want to see smoke come out when you plug in the battery? Just put some electrical tape or masking tape on areas you are not working on.

For more soldering tips, check out this guide: https://oscarliang.com/soldering-guide/

What a great tip Thumbs Up

It's not something that even crossed my mind to come up with a solution for.

Thanks a mil ! I am about to solder a XM+ into my Diatone r239. First time at this. I’m wishing there was a tutorial video on this. Can you point me in the right direction?

The R239 should come with a wiring diagram, if you don't have it, here it is:
https://oscarliang.com/ctt/uploads/2018/...iagram.jpg

It shows where to wire the XM+

Once you have connected it, setup SBUS in Betaflight as explained in this post:
https://oscarliang.com/sbus-smartport-telemetry-naze32/

(no need to setup SmartPort, because it XM+ doesn't have it)

This has been a great standard learning to build for me. Thanks for saving me so many times Oscar!

I set up like a barbershop surgery, folding table in the driveway. Keeping clean is cheap. The frustration of ruining fresh parts is real.

Thanks for the advice Oscar, you saved the snake´s life. I´ve already killed one Mamba with "invisible" solder ball. The second Mamba survived! I own you 100 bucks :-)

That is something so simple. I usually trust my soldering skills and never thought that it could just splatter all over. Great idea!
