Simple VTX CAM question F405-CTR
#1
Hello

I am using a Matek F405-CTR FC with a AKK FX2 Video transmitter.

When I bypass the FC, the video signal from the camera (Foxeeer Predator) works correctly via the FX2 to the video receiver and monitor.  This was a great relief to know that this part of the equipment works. However.....

I have checked (and resoldered)  the wiring from the Predator to the VTX pad on the FC. I have done the same from the CAM pad to the FX2. According to web page for this FC, I think I have made the correct connections.

I know about the resistor query for this camera where i need to add a 150 ohm resistor to ensure that the OSD functions correctly. I don't think this should be a concern.

Also, in the Betaflight configurator, I don't think I need to change any ports to allow the FC to allow the video signal to get to the FX2. It should (I think) simply pass the video signal without any hassles.

I am not getting the video signal out from the FC. Am I using the correct pads for this FC?  Is there something that I have ignored with the Betaflight configuration?

Suggestions are welcomed.

regards
Paul

Are you getting a black screen as the picture or is it just snow?

On the OSD tab in Betaflight Configurator, make sure you explicitly set the video format set to match that of your camera (either PAL or NTSC). Don't rely on using the AUTO feature as it doesn't always work. That is the only setting you ca change regarding video output.

If after making the format change you just get a black screen, the culprit will be the OSD chip. Use a magnifying glass to check the circuit for any minuscule solder balls or foreign debris that might be causing a short, especially on or around the pins of the OSD chip.

I know you said you did the wiring as per the manual, but maybe it is worth you posting some photos showing your wiring between the camera and the FC, and the the wiring between the VTX and FC just so we can see 100% what your wiring is.

Aha!!!

Two problems surfaced. the first was the selection of NTSC instead of Auto. The second one was more difficult but proved to me NOT to use the lousy Dupont connectors. I have used these connectors in the past and they are not reliable. In this case, that is what happened. While it looked connected, it was not. the insulation part of the wire was connected properly but the actual working bit, the copper, was not. This was discovered by taking a lead and connecting between the camera output line to first the CAM pad and then the VTX pad.

So thanks SO much for making the point of checking the wiring in detail. Now the OSD from the FC is visible!!

Problem solved. Chuck out the dupont connectors....

I'm glad it turned out to be something simple and easy to fix Smile
