The Shark Byte embargo is already lifted. This video would have been shot before that. A lot of his 3 packs a day were recorded quite a while ago and maybe a reason why this one has only just been published. So nothing has been re-soldered. This was probably the module fitted to his goggles before he discovered that both his Shark Byte VTX units were only fit for the trash can.

I think the reason we haven't heard from FatShark for a while is because they are probably far too busy hand-soldering all the "production" units that they need to send out to vendors ROFL

Update from the fat shark CEO himself ...

It would appear that someone has tasted the forbidden fruit of free R&D financing ... and likes it.  A lot.  Shark Byte will be YET ANOTHER %^&# BETA.  Not one mention of any offer, if at all, to the beta suckers users of the original Byte Frost.  Never mind any clarification if any of these suckers users will get the same offer, if at all, for the production version of Shark Byte.  Assuming of course it doesn't turn into the better, bigger, shinier, Shark Frost ... beta version of course.

fat CEO shark Wrote:September Shark Byte Update

For those of you that have been following along, you are probably very curious what the state of Shark Byte is right now. We have finished building three new digital video products from the ground up after the Byte Frost launch last year. The feedback from that launch helped us totally change the architecture and we have been able to build a digital (not analog HD) camera, a VRx that mounts directly to your Fat Sharks and a VTx with better performance in a smaller package.

We feel very comfortable with the production process on VRx and the camera and believe those products are ready for mass production. The VTx has finally gotten to the point where we think the technical performance is good enough to justify a launch. Some prototypes of the newest development samples were sent out to media partners and an initial review was posted on YouTube by Mark.

Unfortunately, the VTx is not anywhere as far along in our production validation process as the other two products, and many of the samples we sent out had performance issues. This is actually very common this early in the production cycle and we are currently working on developing our quality control process and modifying the VTx to improve yield and reliability. We don't normally send out review samples this early in the process, but we really want everyone to understand the progress we are making and be in a position to decide what digital technology is right for you as the market matures.

We are currently building out a beta run batch of the Shark Byte VTx and have the VRx and camera quality control already vetted. We will start selling a very limited Shark Byte set with a production VRx, production camera, and beta VTx at a steep discount to Byte Frost customers. We expect that to be available in October and encourage the Byte Frost customers to monitor their emails for more information. Once those units are sold and the production process for the VTx is finalized we will incorporate any additional feedback from the Beta users in our commercial launch. We expect to have everyone ready to fly in zero latency HD by springtime.

LOL I'm a sucker, voodoo, but you gotta at least try just a lil bit for me to bite.   ROFL

[edit] And in fairness, I guess my "enthusiasm" got ahead of me and in the last paragraph, Fat CEO clearly states that Byte Frost buyers will have first dibs on giving free financing ... AGAIN. Uh ... yay?

Well the more this gets delayed the closer we are to seeing a DJI v2 if there is a v2. And if there is, at the rate Fat CEO is going, it will just demolish whatever beta they have going on to smithereens.
