Runcam thumb pro jello
#1
Hey everyone,
I dont know if anyone can help me, but i have issues with my runcam thumb pro and jello. I know, that that is a common problem and is usually caused by vibrations. I fly the cam on my crux 35, which is due to freestyle flying here and there a bit demolished. The front motor are causing more vibrations, than the others, which could probably be the problem. And now i want to ask you, if i can do something against the jello without replacing the motors? Maby softer mounting for the cam?

Best solution is smooth motors and new props - these other points will help reduce jello but not likely remove it all. Thumb Pro is susceptible to jello, and the light Crux35 frame seems to transfer the slightest motor vibrations.

* Use shutter speed of 1/60s or slower
If you are flying in bright light, then you will need to add ND filter to get correct exposure, but dawn/dusk lighting should be just right

* Get well balanced soft props (Gemfan solid color props worked best in my experience)

* Use a very soft/suspension mount for the camera. Because of the light camera weight, I found very thin TPU struts worked best although probably not the most sturdy solution.

I havent flashed the cam after i got it ( about 1 onth ago). Could a flash of the firmware possibly help?
And thanks for your reply

A couple of ideas:
1. If you have Bluejay firmware flashed, make sure to use the 48KHz version, which improves smoothness of the motors.
2. I found for ultralight cameras like the Runcam Thumb Pro, harder/less flexible mounts tend to work better and less prone to jello. Try to print your mount in PLA or PETG, or use higher infill and a less flexible design if you must use TPU.
