It's a SOIC package, which I feel comfortable soldering. However I figure I should ask if there are any special needs as far as the first flash (bootloader etc). I have done a few M328 chips and flashed bootloaders with pogo pins, but not sure on STM32. I do have a USBASP, an ST-Link programmer, and of course FTDI at my disposal, but not sure if that's adequate to get this done. I suppose I could solder to the SOIC pins if needed for a first flash.
Has anyone here replaced the STM32 on their FC succesfully before? Any pointers?
Thanks in advance,
Kev

Video below is old and talking about stm32 f4’s, but the basic process of programming stm32’s is the same.
If that board doesn’t have swclk and swdio broken out on it, you’ll have to look at a pinout for the f722 and solder directly to the pins or otherwise connect to them, which would be a pain.
Edit- I can’t say I’ve successfully done this before. I’ve been lucky enough to have good mcu’s that I could pull from donor boards so I didn’t have to bother with a first flash. I’ve just researched it for when I need to. I have directly flashed a few older chips to put silverware on them though, which is the same process.
Dangerous operations.
Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.
