Totally looking into that one!  Have you had any issues with yours?  I really like that it mounts in the stack.

Considering I haven't flown in like 3 months due to the weather (it's a balmy -15 today) I can't really say.  But I did take a walk with my goggles and with the quad sitting on the bench, I had a crystal clear image at 800 metres. So that's a good sign.  And that was only at 200mW
Dude, where's my quad?

Its nice Kaity, you'll like it. I've had no issues with mine since putting it in the 6 inch. I've been running it at 200mw.

Another decent VTX that mounts in the stack is the Holybro Atlatl HV.  It has a built-in microphone, which is kind of nice for hearing the motors.  However, audio sent over the video link has quite a lot of static. I think the static would probably be present no matter what VTX was used.

I have looked at that one too and it seems like a strong contender.  At this point, I am tempted to invest in a 2.4G system for LR and shift a working 5.8G VTX from one of my long range quads.

I do wonder how much the audio channel could be contributing to any static the AKK seems to exhibit...?

After hearing about the VAS Ion antennas from John (thank you for passing along your experience!) for the last few months, I have decided to try them out. I ordered one for the 5" that I am curious to try.

So I installed the Foxeer ClearTX and even on 25mw has less breakup...and that is with a simple dipole antenna. It would seem I have had bad luck with the FX2-Ultimate. Anyway, this is only going to fly close in so it is fine to be limited to 600mw Wink

Here it is...final revamp for a while Big Grin

I think the 5" is set up the way I want now.  It is pretty smooth after playing with the throttle expo while still having some nice thrust throughout the mid throttle range.

Oh...what an awesome camera!

Secured the R-XSR and installed some "correct length" antenna.  They seem to be making a difference, though I only flew out to about 75 meters as it is just some yard flights while tuning.

I really like these 2306 motors!  They feel like they have more "grunt" than my usual 22xx motors.

I am seriously considering shifting the battery to the belly. I really would like to mount an HD camera and GPS and the pack is in the way. I would also like to shift to 900mhz control freq as well, so an R9MM with T antenna.

Pack shifted and likely will have to re-tune it. Thought I had a working GPS lying around, but it would appear that all the spares are toast. Ordered another R9MM and an antenna.

I was a difficult convert to bottom mount, but now I love them.  Probably not ideal for freestyle, but it works for LR and frees up space for other stuff like you mentioned.

LOL, you know the trouble top mounting has caused me!  The only issue I have now that the pack is belly slung is my favorite IntoFPV straps are too short Sad  The bottom plate on the FPV-Reconn frame is several layers thicker than the top plate!  I will figure something out...

Have the day off and I think I want to find some secluded corner of the county to test out the new config.
