RC smoothing setup (rx rate18ms)
#1
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to eliminate an RC command ripple, but I'm not able, I tried to follow the various guides of joshua and uav tech but with fast spoken English I can't.
I use a radio with deviationtx, (T8SG V2 PLUS), Frsky XM + R-XSR receivers with Fport, rate at 18ms.

I see that the stick ripple is transferred to the pid and motors .. I would like to eliminate it, what should I change?
I am attaching the latest settings and the blackbox log

Log blackbox

This is the video you are probably referring to. Basically, he recommended that you switch rc_interp = auto to on. And only on RP and not RPTY. You can do all this in the receiver GUI under RC smoothing. The default value is 19 ms delay. You have to figure out what is the lowest value without seeing the ripple. So trial and errors. He just takes a Blackbox log on the bench without props to see if the settings is good or bad.

Yes! very good. that's one of the videos I've seen,
I will try RP again,
I seem to remember that I had set RPYT precisely because I also saw this effect on T and therefore the wave effect on the engines, I will have to try again, it was a bit of time from the first tests, then I left it alone.
however I immediately noticed a difference when I saw the video, I see the signal in STEPS, in my I see the WAVY signal.

ah I forgot,
the video is from an old version of BF, I thought the new version of BF has more features, or something different in the way it works.

I think I said something wrong ...
but the Fport period is 9ms?

and in any case, based on this period, is it not possible to calculate mathematically the interpolation interval to be entered in BF?

Your question is beyond my knowledge. There are a bunch of filter for RC commands. I am not sure what they all do.

Also, if you have waves on throttle, you want to add throttle to the interpolation smoothing.

however I did various tests with interpolation, and between the various values a little has improved !! some edges remain

this is the most recent video where there is more information

So do you have rc smoothing set to filter? This will turn on rc smoothing. According to the video, that will further take out the steps. The default cutoff frequency is 20hz for frame rate of 22ms. If your frame rate is different, then you need to recalculate using the formula he posted.

I did some tests changing the interpolation value, it's much better. can also be heard from the noise while flying, maybe it's just suggestion but I think I have more flight time.
then I tried adding THROTTLE too.

I think I can settle for how I fly, it's a clear improvement.

watching the video of UAVTECH I saw that it could be completely improved by activating the filter, instead I can only get worse, like the start tread images.

the big doubt is on the 'quads' where I don't have a blackbox! how do i see when this value is right? for example in the TinyHawkS ...

That does look better.

Without blackbox we're pretty much screwed. I didn't even know I have to take this in consideration for have my quad flying as good as a leave in the air. Dang, I'm so naive and plus, without BB in my only quad.
