Rate profiles (Phantom)
#1
Dear friends,
by hovering indoors with the Phantom I've assessed that I'm using maybe  the lower 10% of the throttle range and also pitch and roll in acro are a bit too sensitive and if I get to largish oscillations then I usually crash.

When flying FPV in the park I see that I'm zooming high as soon as I take off and have to work to bring it down to human altitudes.

For this I'm thinking about setting up 3 rate profiles indoor, FPV subdued and Full blast (and then assign them to a switch, this latter part I know how).

Can anyone please direct me to a good tutorial to "tame" the little rocket? Never played with rated and curves so need to understand a lot.

What do you mean by (Phantom)?
'Ignore' is the route word of Ignorant.

I just watched this video today and found it really helpful. And since I'm just starting out I figured I will start right off the bat using Actual Rates over Betaflight Rates. For me it makes a whole lot more sense.

Apart from rate reduction /more expo which is quite obvious ,another simple way to tame it for indoor use is via the throttle. You can do this via Betaflight configurator PID page under throttle mid and expo. You could change the throttle mid from 0.50 to 0.2-0.3 and increased the throttle Expo to 0.3-0.5 depending on your personal preference.

On BF 4.2, you could also set up throttle limit based on cell count too, ie 70%-80% throttle limit if you use 3 cells. Quite a useful feature.

And for throttle curve, you can do it via your Radiomaster TX16S open tx function. Check this video for instructions.
