0 I've flashed the R9M 2019 ACCESS firmware onto the external module for my Taranis X9D+ ACCST. The issue is that I don't see an option for "R9M ACCESS" like I'm supposed to. I only see "R9M". I've tried this with FCC and FLEX versions but I only ever see "FCC".

6 You can't use ACCESS firmware on your X9D+ ACCST. ACCESS protocol is only available on the newer version of Taranis. Change your R9M firmware back to ACCST to use it without any problem.

778 22-Jul-2020, 11:06 AM (This post was last modified: 22-Jul-2020, 12:25 PM by SnowLeopardFPV. Edit Reason: Typo corrections. ) This is unfortunately where FrSky have created additional confusion. You would think that if you purchased an external ACCESS capable module that it wouldn't matter what transmitter you have. You wouldn't automatically assume that the transmitter itself would also need to have ACCESS capable hardware in it as well in order to use the module with ACCESS firmware. So both the host and the client need to have hardware that have ACCESS capabilities if you want to make use of the new ACCESS protocol. I have no idea why because any other external module will just work without the host transmitter needing to have any specific dedicated hardware in it for that module. Unfortunately FrSky don't seem to make that clear anywhere which then leaves people scratching their heads, just like in this case.
I think FrSky have missed a trick because it also means you can only use their ACCESS modules running ACCESS firmware with their own transmitters. Maybe some Jumper or RadioMaster users would also like to use the R9 System with the ACCESS protocol, but they can't because FrSky have shut the door on them.
Either way, as John said, you can use the R9 "2019" version of the module with ACCST firmware. It's just a shame you can't take advantage of the new ACCESS protocol features without also having to buy one of the new ACCESS capable FrSky transmitters.
