Printing with Support Needed?
#1
Hi guys,

Just started with 3D printing 2 weeks ago... So far so good.. If im printing GoPro Session mount, do i need to enable support at all?
I read on the net, they said only needed if you have a piece over hang like 45degress.  Man,  if I added support thats additional 1 extra hour lol.

thanks ya!

Unfortunately yes. You can getaway with small stretches but for a long horizontal line hanging in the air you must use it.

Do rotate the model any which way you can to minimize the need for support though. But no matter what you will need to print some level of support for a gopro mount unless you make separate pieces you somehow adhere together. I'm powering through a 14 hour print right now for a session mount and no matter which way I rotate it, it still requires tons of support. Cutting all this out will be fun lol not.

Sometimes you need to get creative with your design and/or change the orientation you print a model in to reduce the amount of supports you need (or to eliminate the need for them completely).
