I have a new Taranis QX7 access transimitter. It will only power on after being plugged into the USB port on my computer for 30 seconds or so. It works great at that point allowing me to turn it off and on as normal. After that it will operate normally until left idle for a while. Then it is a brick again. I have updated the firmware to 2.3.15 using Companion 2.3. I have already adjusted the clearance between the button and the case and replaced the CR1220 battery on the main board.

Other issues that plague this radio is that it makes strange squeaking and clicking noises after being turned off and it will drain the main battery when powered off. This leads me to believe that there is a problem with the main board.

Has anybody had these problems? If so, how did you rectify them?

If you bought this radio new then return it back to the vendor.

This issue is not something that you can fix via firmware and is probably going to require a board replacement unless you have the skills to trouble shoot and perform PCB repairs.
