pitch and roll issues in acro mode
#1
Hi guys
I have a really weird issue I cannot resolve on my own.. I really tried everything from youtube to reading manuals etc.. hopefully somebody of you can help me.
The issue is:
My quads work perfectly well, expect for one extremely frustrating weird thing. If I fly around in angle or horizon mode, everything is fine, all works according to expectations. However, if I change my quads to freestyle/acro/headfree mode, something very strange happens. If the quad faces the same direction as it was when acro was enabled, all is fine. But then, if I use YAW, suddenly (and I cant find the reason) the pitch and roll commands are messed up (interchanged with each other, depending on orientation of the quad). If I yaw the quad back into the initial orientation, roll and pitch are normal again. As soon as I yaw away from the original orientation, pitch and roll are again interchanged. It's impossibel to use the freestyle mode because of this.. suuuuper annoying!! I love flying freestyle ;-(((
I have the same issue with my 2 quads. My old flywoo explorer LR 4 O3, as well as the brandnew Nazgul F5. Because of this, I suspect that it might not be an issue of the quads, but rather of the remote controller?? I tried it with another remote, TBS mambo with CrossFire micro TX, exactly the same issue. It's as if the quad in acro mode freezes in orientation (mistakenly) and does not take into account that it was yawed, thus leading to a mess with pitch/roll depending on yaw-degrees.
I have updated to the latest firmwares, didnt help neither.

I use a TBS Tango 2 and CrossFire on both quads. I have the same issue on both quads. Do you have any suggestions what I could do to resolve the issue?
Any help would be much appreciated <3

Kind Regards

Sounds like you are describing the HEADFREE mode, if you don't want that functionality you can remove it from your modes tab.

Quote:Headfree
In this mode, the "head" of the multicopter is always pointing to the same direction as when the feature was activated. This means that when the multicopter rotates around the Z axis (yaw), the controls will always respond according the same "head" direction.
With this mode it is easier to control the multicopter, even fly it with the physical head towards you since the controls always respond the same. This is a friendly mode to new users of multicopters and can prevent losing the control when you don't know the head direction.
