Painting Props
#1
I have some props for my upcoming build.  They only come in two colors, black and some baby puke blue.  I was wondering, have any of you painted your props?  Does the paint hold up?  Any issues?

The first thing that came to my mind is that they probably would get out of balance if you paint them

yeah paint will upset the balance, permanent marker should be fine, but I wouldn't even bother as you'll crash and break them in no time lol

Try using Rit Clothing Dye. Cheap and easy to find. We use it a lot to dye RC ground vehicle parts and it shouldn't affect prop balance at all.

Heat up a bowl of water. (one your wife doesn't care about! Lol) Add in the dye. Place parts in to soak. Rinse in cold water and voila!

Just remember parts can only be made into a darker color or shade than they started.

Can second the out of balance part. Tried it on a junk build and it just refused to fly evenly.

I think the color works better for those of the female variety.....but orange now....that would be cool with black.... Big Grin

My first DIY micro, actually it predates the 5" craft I was building.  Thought the props were an awesome color!  They ran out of pink ones for a bit...

And black props are pretty handsome as well!

I like your quad with the black props....cant go wrong with black...my blue props were shipped by mistake. I wanted black. Not a big enough deal to make a stink.

I have ordered similar blue props in the hope that this will lessen my Mrs' objections to the money spent on the hobby!

And orange is easy to find!...  In the grass that is.  Wink My NOX5R runs orange props and orange outlined frame.

Just did a 3" build last night with the exact same intention! It's purple anodized with pink and clear props to appeal to the girls in my life. This is while I wait for all the parts to MY 3" build, which is going to be blue themed. Big Grin

Just lavish upon us an equal or greater value of gold and we will never be upset with any hobbies expenses.  Of course, remember that multi tasking is one of our super powers and we will know...likely to the cent...if your calculations are correct Big Grin
