My Naze32 rev6 died mid-flight this weekend. Just stopped working. I completely disconnected it from the quad and connected to the computer and there's no lights flashing on whatsoever. Computer *does* register the usbserial port but I can't connect to it. The board then gets hot to the touch in the area around the usb port. What's that, a short-circuit or borked chip somewhere? There's no visually burnt-out components on the board and no funny smell either. I fly with the noisy LittleBee 30A ESC's but have a 1000uF cap on the main power loop, which should help with that. After crashing I immediately checked motors and ESC's and they weren't even warm to the touch. No funny smells.
Things I changed recently:
- upgrade from Betaflight 2.8.3 to 2.9.1.
- started using superexpo but with relatively low rates (0.2 if I recall correctly)
- added an OSD for the first time, but with some troubles (see http://intofpv.com/t-losing-fpv-signal-w...-manouvres)
- on this flight I had resoldered the video signal to go directly to vtx and bypass the osd, but keeping the osd connected to power.
- I haven't checked if the OSD still works since this crash (.. relevant?). No funny smell there.
- changed gyro/pid looptime to 2kHz/2kHz on a whim. This is kind of high for a f1 chip but I was just curious.
Personally, I'm suspecting the high looptime to have over-stressed the cpu but I don't actually know what happens if the FC is overloaded. Hoping for some ideas from you. Thanks!
