EDIT #1 (3rd June 2021): A fix for this issue will be coming soon. See post #11 and post #12 in this thread for details.
EDIT #2 (15th June 2021): A fix for this issue has now been released. Details are in another thread HERE
EDIT #3 (12th July 2021): The "fix" mentioned in EDIT #2 has introduced another even worse bug which causes the video feed to freeze/black out, or the goggles to reboot mid flight. See the warning at the top of that other thread HERE.
EDIT #4 (15th July 2021): DJI have today released another updated firmware version (v01.02.0001) for the DJI FPV Goggles V2 that supposedly fixes the issue with the goggles going to a black screen or rebooting mid flight. See HERE in this thread for details.
This issue first seems to have started surfacing a few weeks ago and was also reported on JB's live stream a last week, but there seem to be more and more users coming forward with having experienced the same issue.
DO NOT let the battery run low on the DJI FPV Goggles V2 unless you want to risk locking yourself out of using them.
The issue is that if the voltage runs low on the DJI FPV Goggles V2 goggles and the goggles shut off, this can cause them to revert to DJI FPV Drone mode with the option to switch to standalone FPV mode for Air Units and Vistas then completely missing from the menu. So you are then stuck in DJI FPV Drone mode with no ability to switch back to standalone FPV mode, unless you also happen to own the $1300 DJU FPV Drone. Rather than fixing the issue, DJI's response to this is for customers to send their V2 goggles back to a DJI Repair Centre to have DJI engineers switch the mode back to standalone FPV mode. But then there is no guarantee that it won't happen again requiring the goggles to be returned to DJI every time that happens.
Ian of Mad's Tech has been able to repeatedly reproduce the issue and has put the following post on RC Groups (HERE)...
Ian has also released the following video detailing the issue...
This issue doesn't affect the V1 goggles. As a result of DJI's shenanigans with the V2 goggles and their apparent reluctance to fix the issues, pre-owned V1 goggles have probably now just doubled in price

Mads Tech Wrote:Boom I have replicated the reset (many many times now)
Man the low power behaviour on these goggles is horrible.
Mine do reset back to FPV but I still have the option but that’s never been an issue for me as it’s been connected to an FPV Drone.
The issue will be users who never have had the drone and won’t have an way back.
This issue is going to be one that happens more than anything with users using a standard lipo or their have loose barrel connector.
When the battery gets down to 5.15 or so V the goggles enter horrible reset cycle where they keep going around and around. You will see the DJI logo some times, lines, colours, broken screen and all sorts. Then on reboot with proper power the goggles reboot to FPV Drone mode 3 out of 4 times I’m my tests.
Part of the issue driving this is at 5.2v the goggles are drawing about 50% more current than at 8v so that’s killing your LiPo harder.
Basically the same scenario that some users face when first getting the goggles and not being able to activate them.
