Hi All, I'm trying to get into the hobby and I'm currently working on creating a list of parts to build my quad. The list is largely based on Oscar's Blog post about a first build. I am completely new to this world so it would be much appreciated if people could let me know if there are parts that do not work together that I need to switch out. I've tried my best to do research on it all, but I'm sure I've missed stuff.  I would also appreciate people opinions on parts and chime in if you would recommend something other than what I have listed. Also if there are items that can be DIY to lower cost I'm happy to hear about those as well. Thank you for any and all responses, the help is much appreciated!!! You've done your research well  Pretty nice equipment without spending to much. Just a couple of things, get a little better straps because the price is not that different and also I think you should re-think about the motors, not because they are bad but because unfortunately DYS no longer exists. Check the Emax Eco, they have good reviews. On the goggles, just a personal opinion, check fatsharks, not because ev200d are bad, they are not, they are great, but for 300$ I would personally like to have garanteed support. That's because the special edition uses 215mm arms which you can't buy separately. The normal Martian II uses 220mm arms which are readily available as spares. Of course, if you are set on getting the special edition one and you do break an arm then you will just need to buy a complete new frame if you need one or more replacement arms. I would get 1500mAh batteries instead of 1300mAh ones because you slightly longer flight times. Don't buy one of those electronic poly fuse based smoke stoppers. They're about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Build your own using an automotive bulb. Low ESR Capacitor - make sure you buy a decent brand. Read THIS. Your list is pretty good. Sorry for another question, but do you have a recommendation for a strap brand i should look for, I have no name brand recognition  Also I looked at the Emax eco, does the new one I added seem appropriate for the build? I would get extra arms. They tend to break more often than top plates. As for ESC, nothing wrong with what you have. But for the cost, I would go with the RDQ. I'm going for a 4s Be free to ask I was going to recommend the ones I use but they seem discontinued, but basically go for something with kevlar and metal buckle just like voodoo said because they're not prone to rip on a hard crash. The Emax Eco are fine for 4S @2400kv. You just have to choose between 2306 or 2207, but any of those are perfect for you build. I also have the Martian special edition, but for reasons already mentioned, I also bought a spare frame just for replacing things. btw why not Oscar's Runcam Phoenix? Fair question, I decided to go with the micro eagle because it also works better in low light conditions. More future proofing than anything. I have been looking at the fatshark HDO and was wondering what modules I would need to get in order for it to work. I'm Looking for a budget option that gets me flying. On Oscars blog I found the True-D V3.6 as a budget option. Do you guys have any experience with this receiver or other options that might be newer. Thank you for the quick response snow. Is the Achilles difficult to set up? Also I read that having diversity or two receivers to read from results in a more stable feed. Does one module with two antennas take care of that or would that be something I can only achieve by installing two modules into my goggles? Also when I chose modules are there certain things I have to look for in terms of compatibility with my camera or the VTX on the drone?
