you cant get distance informations without a gps, i dont use gps on my quads.
i have no answer about magnetometer, a cheapish bn180 without magnetometer can work nice for distance.

if you find EV800D uncomfortable.. umm.. things dont get much better with Skyzone/Fatshark

Goggles are made for "standard" face, and if you are too tall, flat or whatever.. well, I just use more padding.

I can find NEO 6M GPS module easily in the market, will it be good for GPS rescue, altitude hold, distance etc.?
