One cell is propably going to the silicon sky because the voltage is little bit lower every cycle. When I discharged the battery and the cells have about 3,8V and one cell is about 3,6V. Charging takes about 2 hours with 1C charging. What´s your personel experience? Should I throw it out or can I use it with the caution? Battery is about 4 months old and spent 20 - 30 cycles. • Posts: 6,155 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,297 in 1,844 posts Likes Given: 4,752 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 103 04-Sep-2020, 02:27 AM (This post was last modified: 04-Sep-2020, 02:28 AM by hugnosed_bat.) sadly this battery wont provide the true power anymore... 4months up to 30cycles, get sure you dont stress them to much, they fit your flystyle and ampdraw. if it would be one cell with physical damage, the one which isnt in balance, it "could" be removed to get a 5s pack... • Posts: 122 Threads: 9 Likes Received: 6 in 6 posts Likes Given: 22 Joined: Apr 2020 Reputation: 1 04-Sep-2020, 02:42 AM (This post was last modified: 04-Sep-2020, 02:52 AM by ericz.) There´s no visible physical damage of battery. I´ll look some videos but I am not a huge fan of baterry surgery operation The flying performance is good for me even with one bad cell. I have only fear of fire. Baterry is cool during charging... • Posts: 6,155 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,297 in 1,844 posts Likes Given: 4,752 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 103 its a gamble, i would sort it out as you discribed 0,2v difference between is to much, not a good sign. • Posts: 21,408 Threads: 595 Likes Received: 9,037 in 6,688 posts Likes Given: 1,428 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 796 Two hours is a long time to charge a LiPo at 1C. It should take ~45 minutes. It seems like the charger is spending well over an hour just trying to balance the cells at the end of the main charge. If you're careful, you could convert it into a usable 5S LiPo by removing the bad cell. • Posts: 122 Threads: 9 Likes Received: 6 in 6 posts Likes Given: 22 Joined: Apr 2020 Reputation: 1 One cell is removed but the charger report error. 5 cells are recognized. What´s wrong ? • Posts: 932 Threads: 49 Likes Received: 192 in 157 posts Likes Given: 186 Joined: Jul 2020 Reputation: 11 Did you change the balance plug to 6 from 7? • Posts: 122 Threads: 9 Likes Received: 6 in 6 posts Likes Given: 22 Joined: Apr 2020 Reputation: 1 No. Should I only swap 6 and 7? • Posts: 932 Threads: 49 Likes Received: 192 in 157 posts Likes Given: 186 Joined: Jul 2020 Reputation: 11 22-Sep-2020, 09:33 PM (This post was last modified: 22-Sep-2020, 09:46 PM by Kevin2112.) The JST-Xh connector on the battery needs to be replaced with a 6 pin if you removed a cell off your 6s battery. So your getting rid of the highest voltage balance lead since you made a 5s battery. Be very careful and do one at a time as you can short out the wires pretty easily. Use a volt meter to confirm the voltages on the balance leads, if you cross them bad things will happen. Pins for a 5s should be 0v, 3.7v, 7.4v, 11.1v, 14.8v, 18.5. Use the negative on the XT-60 plug for one meter lead. These of course are nominal voltages I listed. They go in ascending order starting with 0v. I believe JB [joshua bardwell]has a video on how to replace the JST-XH balance connector. It’s not difficult but you need to get it right. Verify the voltages on the pins when done with a meter before trying to charge battery. There are JST-XH connector kits on amazon that are very inexpensive. I got one with crimpers that work very well for I believe around 30$. If you just want the connectors they go for around 10$. You shouldn’t need the crimpers to replace the connector but you will need one sooner than latter as these connectors are not the most durable. Hope this helps. • Posts: 6,155 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,297 in 1,844 posts Likes Given: 4,752 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 103 sure a crimping tool would be the best, but i guess not needed. did this many times, none of my chargers did need a change of the conector. the wire and conector of the faulty cell should disasambled from the balance conector. the row should be placed as a 5s lipo, probably one wire need to be reconected. • Posts: 122 Threads: 9 Likes Received: 6 in 6 posts Likes Given: 22 Joined: Apr 2020 Reputation: 1 Thanks for guide Kevin, I´ll try it. • Posts: 122 Threads: 9 Likes Received: 6 in 6 posts Likes Given: 22 Joined: Apr 2020 Reputation: 1 (23-Sep-2020, 12:20 AM)hugnosed_bat Wrote: sure a crimping tool would be the best, but i guess not needed. did this many times, none of my chargers did need a change of the conector. the wire and conector of the faulty cell should disasambled from the balance conector. the row should be placed as a 5s lipo, probably one wire need to be reconected. I think you´re right. The new conector is not required. • Posts: 932 Threads: 49 Likes Received: 192 in 157 posts Likes Given: 186 Joined: Jul 2020 Reputation: 11 Be careful parallel charging. • Posts: 122 Threads: 9 Likes Received: 6 in 6 posts Likes Given: 22 Joined: Apr 2020 Reputation: 1 I´ll not use parallel charging with this lipo. I´ll use it for my Sky02X only. • |
