0 Quick question - can I run a 6s lipo quad build on a li ion that has a 30a rating if I am careful with the throttle for long range and longer flight times. I can't seem to find any info on how people manage to use li ions on fpv.

388 Yes, you can use 6S li-ion as long as you don't over discharge. The LG 18650 cell can discharge at 20A continous and 35A max burst. If you are going to do a 6S1P configuration, you will be limited to 20A. If you do a 6S2P configuration, you can boost it to 40A. LG cells come in 3000mah. How much capacity do you want for your battery pack?

0 I had the impression from reading other posts that li-ion had a lower voltage limit and that ESC had to be configured/flashed to suit and not many can do it to be able to take advantage of li-ion...

388 If you have blheli32 with a current sensor, you can set a current limit.

388 A 6S 6000mah li-ion will likely weigh 600 grams. That might be a little too for a 4 inch quad.
