Issues with BF v10.2.0 Configurator/JB F4 AIO Flight Contorller?
#46
I know most of you are probably sick of seeing this thread, but for those of you that were/are following it.......(drum roll)...I think I've got it whipped.....sort of.  After trying several different pieces of hardware and getting the same results (I call it the light switch theory......turn a light switch on and it doesn’t come on...what’s the first thing you do?  try it again…… with the same results).  Ok……I fly exclusively in Rate mode, but I like to have Angle mode available in case I “need” it.  I turned the accelerometer off and viola, the problem went away.  It is still on the bench, but at least there, it appears to be working.  Of course, I don’t have angle mode and I still don’t understand that…it works at first then pitch and roll seem to evaporate.  Oh well…at least I can get it in the air for more then a few seconds.  I never thought of the accelerometer, because it didn’t ACT like that type of problem….only because it worked at first and then stopped working. Anyway, I’ll keep looking for that part of the puzzle, but in the meantime, at least I  can  fly it!!!

Could there be a setting different on that particular model setup in your TX?

No, I  dont think so.  I copied the set up from a another model and just edited the PIDS a little and bound a different RX is about all I did.  Good idea though. Thinking

Really is a strange issue man. Just got to thinking about it, if something got twisted in the TX on just that model profile, but I dont know what would do it lol.

I will be ordering 2 of these FCs soon. One for me and one for my friends first 5 inch. Hoping all is well

The really weird issue is that it happens gradually. For the first 20 seconds or so it's stable, then each time I hit the "refresh" button in the PID's tab, the roll and pitch drop a little more until they are both zero and that is reflected when everything is up and running and I try to apply pitch and roll with the sticks...nothing. Throttle and Yaw are fine. I would think if it were a common problem, or there was a defect in the board we would have heard about from others by now. IDK....it's got my butt whipped.

Received the FCs yesterday. First one is in my NOX5R now and waiting for the rain to stop. Everything went flawlessly though and the LOS maiden was smooth. Waiting on QuadStyles frame for the second build.
For some reason your issue hasn't left my mind Sirdude, only thing I can think to do is completely tear it down and rebuild everything from the ground up. All solders on every component. Sad

Unfortunately, it hasent left mine either.  I thought I had it whipped.....wrong.  I had it working  on the bench fine....put props on it, took it outside, flew for about 15 seconds and then the pitch and roll disappeared.  I had yaw and throttle and that's it.  I've been through 2 JB F4's and  two different bands of 4in1 ESC's.  It has GOT to b something with my set up, but DAMN if I know what.  I thought it had something to do with the accelerator, but thats not it ether.  I out it aside for a while to stew on it a little before throwing it in the river.  I hope you have better luck then I!!!  Smile

Just got back from the first flights. Flies like a dream compared to the Poop backup XMPF3E from FrSky that was in it.
Stock PIDs, my rates, no Accelerometer, airmode always, using OSD, LEDs, and beeper. Super simple but no issues.
Do you use any "programming by tx" to control anything?
I am not up to date on that Jazz yet. Still tune PIDs the old fashioned way even and bring the Netbook Tongue

I'm really glad it's working for you. I do not use "programming by tx"....I'm always worried that I will somehow put it into program mode while flying and that would not be a good thing. Sounds like the biggest difference between yours and mind is that I do not use airmode or LEDs. I'll keep looking, but I am not too far away from trying a different brand FC and trying that.

That would eliminate the FCs if it does fix it.

Hi guys.. i'm experiencing the same nightmare as Sirdude. So i diged everywhere i can and i just saw a little note from J Bardwell in his JB F4 FC manual.. In the troubleshoothing section p. 27: RECEIVER DOESN'T WORK OR DROPS OUT. In short that says that the 5v pad for the receiver may just provide 4.8v (due to technical aspect).. which might be not enough for your receiver to work properly. It will bind with your transmitter and looks just ok, but will mess up at some point the transmission, till it just stop. So if your receiver can support up to 9v as my XM+, you must solder your receiver power to the camera power pad (+7.6 or 9v depending of you fc batch). I just did that and everything works just as it should.
Hope that will solve your problem too.

Hmmmm......I saw that note as well, but I don't think that is my problem.  The receiver tab shows the receiver working properly at all times and my pitch and roll transition to zero gradually as best I can tell.  However, it's certainty worth a shot! I'll give it a try and report back.  Thanks for taking the time to remind me of that.  Will let you know how it works out! Thumbs Up

Hi folks……and the saga continues….sort of. It was suggested to me that perhaps I need to increase the voltage to the RX as some folks have experienced the receiver dropping out when using the 5v pad, even though the recover tabs indicate everything is functioning correctly.  I didn’t really think that was it as my behavior only affected pitch and roll, but what the hell, nothing I was doing worked, so I changed the RX supply voltage to the 9v pad. No change.  Thanks to Failsafe_MiTi for the suggestion, it was worth a shot.

So….I had two RateProfiles set up (one for Acro and one for Proximity )…neither worked.  When I first turn the transmitter on and soon as the TX makes a link with  the RX, the beeper start beeping once every half second or so and continues until the transmitter is cut off.  Just to recap, everything is fine (except the beeping) for about 20 seconds the pitch and roll gradually go to zero….throttle and yaw are fine.  I had the rate profiles set up on a three position switch using Aux 4 on CH 8.  Soooo….for whatever reason, I decided to add a third profile for the third position on the switch.  Lo and behold, it started working…..on position 2 only.  If the switch is on the first position it beeps about every half second and pitch and roll go to zero.  Switch to the second position and the beeping stops and the THAT RateProfile works fine.  Switch to position 3 and then it starts beeping about every quarter second and pitch and roll go to 0.  I even tried moving everything to CH 9 and Aux 5…no change.  So, I just removed all of it.  Disabled the switches and removed all references to Rate profiles, and Aux channels out of the Adjustments tab.  Guess what…..a single profile works perfectly and the craft flies great.  So for now I am limited to one Rate Profile, but at least it’s in the air!  I will post some video in the sometime in the next couple of weeks.  If I ever find the answer, I’ll update this thread.  Thanks to everyone for their support!! So glad you are able to fly it again!

Could some sort of logical curve been added to that switch on the tx? Or a lua script? (I have not used lua yet)

I checked that ...I've even changed switches.  The fact that it works alright for 20 seconds or so and then if you're in the PID's tab you can literally WATCH the curves change with no input from me via the TX.  I don't know......got me completely befuddled.  No Lua scripts. Huh Huh
