A new rc link 2,4ghz and long range capabilities and low latency. Also it has an integration with the Orqa goggles. https://www.immersionrc.com/fpv-products/ghost/ Posts: 21,358 Threads: 592 Likes Received: 9,018 in 6,675 posts Likes Given: 1,428 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 793 Looks interesting. I heard about it on either JB's or TBS' live streams (don't remember which) but it's the first pictures I've seen. It looks like ImmersionRC also have (or are planning) a 433MHz version as well. • Posts: 2,416 Threads: 51 Likes Received: 1,861 in 1,175 posts Likes Given: 3,315 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 74 OpenTX code is ready and they're trying to get it in OpenTX 2.4: https://github.com/opentx/opentx/issues/7857 • Posts: 21,358 Threads: 592 Likes Received: 9,018 in 6,675 posts Likes Given: 1,428 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 793 07-Aug-2020, 01:02 AM (This post was last modified: 07-Aug-2020, 01:06 AM by SnowLeopardFPV.) Jon discusses the ImmersionRC Ghost below. And just as the IRC Ghost was announced, TBS have also dropped a teaser that something else interesting is coming from Crossfire. All exciting stuff. It actually sounds interesting I think. Yeah I am actually considering this but will not pre order, I will wait and see what all the reviewers have to say about it I am using the X9 lite so I need the lite module in order to work. That is probably why I have not upgraded to TBS yet.. Let us know how you like it! So interesting that I'm expecting Trappy to unleash the froth-mouthed fanboys in 5 ... 4 ... 3 ... The ground is for dead people. • Posts: 21,358 Threads: 592 Likes Received: 9,018 in 6,675 posts Likes Given: 1,428 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 793 TBH, I think Crossfire and Ghost are aimed at two different audiences, so I think they can quite happily co-exist with each other without either side getting the big guns out. I think that Ghost is predominantly aimed at racers and racing events which is exactly where ImmersionRC's bread and butter lies, although it can also serve other disciplines as well like freestlye and medium range. • Posts: 12,098 Threads: 125 Likes Received: 3,739 in 2,836 posts Likes Given: 99 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 388 The new Flysky module is more inline with the Ghost, as far as competition. • Posts: 21,358 Threads: 592 Likes Received: 9,018 in 6,675 posts Likes Given: 1,428 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 793 Yes, the Flysky FRM302 module runs on exactly the same LoRa technology as Ghost. And guess who actually released their module first • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 10-Aug-2020, 06:55 PM (This post was last modified: 10-Aug-2020, 07:09 PM by the.ronin.) Seems all reliable control systems are modules now. Someone just needs to release a radio that's basically just a shell and the bare necessity to run OpenTX and everything spent on gimbals and ergonomics. [edit] Something else that occurred to me with this is if it indeed has lower latency, that means you can increase filtering at lower cost, or decrease filtering / make it more aggressive more safely. I'm fresh there, today placed an order for Radiomaster with TBS Crossfire (heard they ship bundles with v2 right now) and nort quite sure if in 2-3 year perspective Crossfire may seem outdated and not interesting for potential reselling. • Posts: 21,358 Threads: 592 Likes Received: 9,018 in 6,675 posts Likes Given: 1,428 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 793 (10-Aug-2020, 08:02 PM)Meryler Wrote: Do you Guys think this may be better run for long-term hobby investment? I think you are pretty safe. TBS have been one of the biggest innovators in the hobby and they don't just sit around twiddling their thumbs. They are always coming up with bigger and better things, and improving what they already put out there with firmware updates. Take the Crossfire modules for example. They had a WiFi module built into them years ago to future proof them but it was only at the beginning of this year that they enabled the functionality of that module. Other companies wouldn't have even bothered and would have just said at a later date "you need to buy a new module with WiFi in it to get the new features". I think the interview with JB and Tony was great but we could have got more out of it if a few more challenging questions on the underlying technology had been asked. • |
