There are two separate firmware on your Taranis, one is for the TX module (the part that transmit signal to the receiver), and there is the OpenTX firmware which is basically the interface.
For both firmware, there are two versions:
If that happens, you will either have to flash your TX, or RX to the correct firmware.
Here is how to flash receiver firmware: https://oscarliang.com/flash-frsky-rx-firmware
It's hard to know what firmware you have on your TX module, unless you try to bind it to two different receivers, one with EU firmware and the other with non-EU and see which one works. If you are not sure, just flash it again.
Here is my tutorial how to flash the internal TX module: https://oscarliang.com/flash-taranis-internal-module/
Here are the technical differences between EU and non-EU firmware.
On the other hand, for OpenTX firmware, it might appear to work normally whether you have EU or non-EU firmware. The main difference is the missing protocol options in the radio setup.
Anyway, it's pretty easy to tell which OpenTX firmware you have:
Go to model setup in your taranis, under "Internal RF", "Mode" and see how many different options you have.
For both firmware, there are two versions:
- International firmware (a.k.a "non-EU")
- EU firmware (a.k.a "EU-LBT")
If that happens, you will either have to flash your TX, or RX to the correct firmware.

- D8, D16, LR12 - if you can select all three then you have the international firmware
- D16 only - you have one of the first versions of the EU-LBT firmware. If this is the case you really should update your firmware because it's quite outdated
- D16, LR12 - you have the newer EU-LBT firmware, and you can use the radio for both the X-series and L-series receivers (but not the D series)
