how to known gps coordinates after crash
#1
hi
im still lerning so i have probably simple or stiupid quastion ;D

i crashed today like 1km from home
lucky me i was able to se in djigoogles gps coordinates
so i entered them into phone and found it
but
what if dji signal would not be availible ?
when i was going for it i lost djis signal many times cause it crashed in some corn field and i giess corn bamboo block signal
i known that i can have it in radio telemetry
but what if it would crash so much that battery would be disconnected ?
is there any way to save gps coordinates that are viewed in dji gogles for example on googles sd card etc?
how to do you handle this kind of situatiuon usually?
thanks and regards
happy flyying !

If you set up GPS logging on your transmitter it will write the GPS co-ordinates to a log file on the SD card that you can then go back an look at. So even if the battery on the quad dies you will still have a logged record of the last co-ordinates on your transmitter. The only downside is that telemetry data from Crossfire is only ever broadcast at 25mW, so eventually you will outrun the telemetry data link and will have to rely on OSD data.

With an analogue quad, all the OSD data is recorded to the DVR including all of the GPS data so you can just play back the recording. Unfortunately with the DJI FPV System only limited OSD data is recorded with the DVR and none of that data includes any of the GPS values which is dumb, but that is how it is. So if you switch your DJI FPV Goggles off or they lose power you lose the last co-ordinates on the screen. Just make sure you write them down before that happens.

Another option is the Marco Polo system. You attach a transponder to your quad and the handheld unit. It has a few kilometres of range and is a completely standalone system (it doesn't use GPS or the 4G network). It is quite an expensive option though...

I just realised I forgot to insert the link for how to set up GPS logging on your transmitter. Now added below...

o had telemetry lost / recover couple times when i was going for it i was ciurious why is that
but when flyying in open space it never happened so probably last record would be googd one just before crash
i have tbs tango 2 - it support it? when i searcheg dps in manual i have only
"Adjust RTC - Correct built-in real-time
clock by GPS
● GPS coords - GPS format for telemetry
sensor"
nothing more about logging ;P

The Tango 2 uses FreedomTX which is a fork of OpenTX, so in theory it should be able to do GPS co-ordinate logging, unless TBS have done something to FreedomTX that has broken that feature. Have a look at Oscar's article and also the video that I put a link to in post #3.

I don't log my gps coordinates but I display the gps coordinates on screen like vbat, rssi and so on. If I crash and lose connection with the quad it will mantain the last position on screen.

you can also use this script once you arrive at the location to give you more idea where the quad is

I use this LUA script in my TX16s, It seems that it support Tango2:

I save my quad a couple of times.

I have set this script to a screen and it seems so be running on it's own without me doing anything

"Shows and logs GPS related information. logfile will be generated in /LOGS/GPSpositions.txt

GPS logfile can be viewed with the GPSviewer.lua" on the radio itself

in case that the telemetry stops, the last coordinates will remain on the screen"

I hope that helps
