How to improve yaw stability?
#1
Hi All,

I am a newbie practicing indoors with micro whoops.

I have a TinyHawk 2 and pretty happy with the way it flies and turns, it seems to have excellent yaw stability, i.e. it can make 180 deg turns almost on a dime. These are on stock settings in angle mode.

I recently purchased the GepRC CineEye. This one seems to drift quite a bit on large yaws, more so when the yaw rate is slow, and I tend to lose control and hit a wall or something when making 180deg turns. Again on stock settings in angle mode.

Is it possible to tweak yaw stability using Betaflight?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe increase the yaw rates. Unfortunately, there is no gps so you not get position hold.

Does your quad drift when hovering? You can try stick calibration of accelerometer if you get some drifting. This might help with the yaw drifting. Otherwise, I can think of anything else to suggest.

Thanks for the response.

No, it does not drift much, maybe over 4-5 secs it will drift a little. it used to drift quite a bit... I was able to tweak the pitch and roll trims in Betaflight to make it more stable.

The interesting thing about the yaw is that it always moves front & left during the yaw. Maybe I can try to compensate with the pitch & roll sticks but I am not that good enough yet Smile

I can try to increase the yaw rates... but I am trying to practice nice and slow in order to improve control.
