Hello! I joined the ranks of 250 FPV pilots late last summer and have been having an absolute blast. I'm having some trouble with the quad now, though; I seem to have developed an oscillation. Since I'm still fairly new to all this, I don't know where to look to figure out exactly what's happening and has hoping someone could help me out.
A little history; I've had a micro for some time so attitude flight wasn't new to me when I got the 250. I made the switch to Rate mode a month or two in and can comfortably fly that full time now. My piloting is improving dramatically but not without my share of crashes. I kind of expect that my issue is hardware, but it's not obvious to me what parts are still good and what parts need replaced.
I have a CC3D and almost went mad trying to get flight data recorded and then pulled off to analyze with OpenPilot. I recently gave up and switched to Cleanflight. I'll have to turn the rates way up to race again; I am still nearly at stock settings on CF now.
I took it out for a test flight the other day just to put some inputs into it and gather the data. I'm pleased that collecting the data and then getting it into Blackbox was really easy. Now that I have it, I've come full circle to my original problem: what's going on with my 250 and how do I fix it? (Unsurprisingly, changing firmware didn't make it go away.)
It's definitely an oscillation that affects pitch and roll; I can't say I noticed it on yaw. It's worse when I put on 5045s, but still visible when I have 5030s on. The test flight is on 5045. This is a 3S setup. My two port-side motors have a little vertical play in the shaft; not sure if that means anything? I read that Cobra motors can come that way from the factory, but mine aren't Cobras. They don't seem to be working extra hard to hover in the logs. You can see the oscillation easily in that test log; it's attached. I pitched, rolled, yawed, and punched it a couple times to get different kinds of data.
I'm a quick study, but still feel very much a newbie to the hobby. I don't know what I'm looking for to be able to identify if I have a bad motor, ESC, bearing, props, or something else. Any help that can be provided would be really excellent. Feel free to ask questions. Most of all, thanks so much for your time.
