That kind of rosin is great for cleaning your tip, but it’s not what you want for soldering.

You want a flux paste or liquid flux for soldering.

To use what you have to clean your tip, heat up your iron, press the tip into the rosin and give it a little twist to coat it, then wipe it on your brass wire sponge, then re-tin the tip with some solder.
Dangerous operations.

Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.

oh so it's normal that is like that...there is no way to melt without do crazy things and use for the soldering right ?

You can use hard rosin when soldering as demonstrated in the video below but it's not convenient to use like this so you will be much better off (and have a much easier time) if you just get yourself some proper no-clean liquid soldering flux.

It's a lot of hassle but Dangerous Protoypes show how it's done in the video below using a ratio of 80% rosin (ground into a powder) and 20% isopropyl alcohol. I can't comment how effective it is compared to normal no-clean flux paste because I've never tried using home-made rosin based flux. If you decide to use it that way then you should thoroughly clean the board with isopropyl alcohol and a swab afterwards to remove as much trace of it as possible. The reasons you need to do that with rosin based flux is detailed in an article HERE.

Hello Smile

so considering that the rosin package is made by 20g , to do 80% of rosin and 20% of alcool i have to add 4g of alcool right ?

considering that alcool density is 0,789 g/cm3 i have to add 5,06 ml of alcool right ?

after i can use it.

i saw the article watching the reasons highlighted but yes i uscually always clean it even when i solder normally with the tin.

thanks Smile
