This is a Nurk video.  Not sure what is happening with him now.  Anyway the stuff he does while chasing this train is pretty amazing stuff.  Hope  you enjoy as much as I have over the years.

That is THE Nurk video!! I’m surprised it was allowed to stay posted.. seeing all the “long range test” videos were removed…then again I do not know the particulars ..
Great flight though!

That was the video which landed Nurk with a massive $27K fine from the FAA. Be careful what you post online people.

He's now moved on to commercial cinematic flying so he doesn't post much content on his channel anymore. I don't actually remember the last time I saw him doing some freetyle flying.

Yeah, if you are going to do that kind of flying, be smart. First and foremost, don't film yourself, your car (particularly the license plate), or any identifying info about you, the perp.  And parking/being where witnesses can gather info on you isn't very smart either.

Second, it is best to not post your stuff on-line until the statute of limitations are over for the event, then the Feds are powerless to mess with you.  Federal SoL vary by type of law violation, crime or civil, most are 3 years for civil and 5 years for criminal, (most of FAA actions are civil except where life and/or property were at significant risk or directly involved).  But all that info is available on-line on the FAA site.

Merely posting your video on-line with no identifiers isn't sufficient to get you charged, simple rules of evidence.  But it may get you interviewed/interrogated.  Also, most important, if interviewed, keep your mouth shut, if you talk you are only helping the investigators, and don't lie.  Lying is a separate crime, likely easier to prove, just ask many people like Martha Stewart for one.  As they say, "you lie, you die".

Also, if you fly with "friends" or any witnesses, make sure they won't give evidence against you (and really you can never be sure about that).  And that they can hold their own in an interrogation.  If you are going to do something that could get you into trouble, it's best to fly alone.  As the Hell's Angels say: "3 people can keep a secret if 2 are dead".  A harsh comment, but it drives the point home that you can't predict what someone else may say to the authorities when under pressure, even friends.

As we say in law enforcement, "we rarely catch the smart ones", so be smart, or don't do the deed in the first place.

But bottom line that was some incredible flying.  I'm a little surprised it's still on YT.  Usually part of the investigation or the settlement agreement is to take the offending video down.  And it's on Nurk's YT page.  So it's not like someone else posted it after copying it from Nurk's YT page.

I'm happy the video is still up. It's one of the best ever.

I suppose if I got fined that much, i'd be like fk it and leave it up.

Honestly if you plan on doing something like that, do it solo, don't take friends, don't implicate others in what you are doing. It cuts both ways, you don't have to worry about someone snitching on you if no one else is there and if you get caught your friend isn't getting crap for being there.

If you are looking for a Long Range badge on here and live in a country with laws that prohibit that sort of thing, then maybe load it to Vimeo and not to Youtube (because like no one looks at videos people post on Vimeo, or at least no one has ever viewed any of mine). Then PM Oscar with the video and delete it a couple of days later. TBH, if I was going to make a LR video available to friends i'd probably host it on my own server based out of somewhere abroad that is unlikely to cooperate with a foreign government, like Hong Kong and where flying quads isn't such a big issue. Tongue Also scrub any GPS data and everything Krohsis said.
