Gyroflow vs Reelsteady
#1
i just started with gyroflow and it's slowly giving me ulcers. it's not recognizing my "lens". i'm using a gopro 6 and the file and update instructions are hoops i dont want to jump through. Is Reelsteady easier to install and use? Thanks. John

so i figured out gyroflow with a gopro, now i'm getting ulcers from trying to use a Runcam thumb pro w. there's no data in the box at the bottom. i can find my lens but that's all i can do. awesome stuff. Fun.

Are you using the latest version of GF? For windows just unzip and run. For Hero 6 it should automatically select the lens profile for you unless you are using a custom lens.
Reelsteady is simpler to use, has very limited options, plus you will need to pay for it. Gyroflow is much more powerful and has a lot more features, but depends on what you need.

I have played with Gyroflow several times. Time spent in Gyroflow robs me of time devoted to productive work. I have never achieved a fully comparable result that ReelSteady gives me in a fraction of the time. The latest version of ReelSteady has HW support for graphics accelerators, has added more features and works very well and most importantly fast! Is it worth the extra $100? It depends on how often and what you use it for, video processing and editing takes a lot of time in itself, spending time tuning GF is just extra time...

there is a crack version for the rsgo 1, you could use it aa aa try.

reelsteady isnt truly more easy ita mainly just limited, there are also differences in work on the vid - while gyroflow runs the video natively, you can work on the video even on a slow machine - that doesnt work on rsgo1, i dont know if there changed something on rsg2. lower performance requirements does make gyroflow way better than rsgo.

if you run all default on gyroflow, you might be close to rsgo, if you like to do more optimize, gyroflow does provide much more.

gove rsgo a try, do a direct comparison about stabilization quality, workflow and render time... you might go back to gyroflow, maybe you like rsgo more

RSGo1 is old story, RSGo2 is completely another story ... and is available only as a feature of Gopro Player. The list of new features is not entirely short, it is possible to effectively change the output ratio from 21:9 up to 9:21 with the new 8x7 sensor, it can output to HEVC, H.264 and CineForm and most importantly, RSGo2 can also use its stabilization on footage that it already has HyperSmooth in it, which is an absolutely key feature. It is not necessary to think in advance whether to choose in camera or post stabilization.

Have you tried a recent version of GF, it does all that you mention and tons more than RSG2. On newer gopros, Hero8 and above, the gyro is presynced and workflow is very simple. Gyroflow does work on hypersmooth footage.
1. Open file
2. Adjust some optional sliders to taste with realtime preview or use defaults (amount of smoothing, zooming, output, etc)
3. Click render

It takes a little bit to learn all the features of GF and they keep adding more, but it is a much easier interface now and works with basically any camera that records at a constant frame rate. I have a RSG2 license, but their early version was so limited and buggy (maybe it has improved) I never use it anymore.
