A red icon means that the GPS module has a connection and is successfully communicating with the FC, but it does not have a 3D satellite fix yet. The icon will turn yellow when the GPS module gets a 3D satellite fix. You will likely need to take the quad outside where it has a clear view of the sky to get a 3D fix.

That's exactly how SnowLeopard says.

I have the same FC and I was also concerned about the red icon, as everyone says: yellow means it's communicating with the FC, but it was red.
So I flashed the BetaFlight to version 4.5 and even resoldered the GPS  from UART 6 to UART 3 (which required connecting a battery pack to power the GPS module) but nothing changed.

I soldered it back to UART 6 and thought it might have to get the fix to turn yellow. So, I connected the FC to the laptop, went out to the balcony, and after a minute I had a fix from 7 satellites, and the icon turned yellow.

Either way, flashing BetaFlight to 4.5 was a good move. It seems to handle the GPS with the M10 chip quite well.
When I took my quad for its maiden flight, it got the fix from 17 satellites in less than a minute.
