Hi everyone, its been a while,
I recently got a small GPS module (the TBS M8) and am having problems with it. I've wired it correctly (I think, TX -> RX and such), and in betaflight the symbol at the top of the screen is on for GPS, and I've done the correct configuration settings (UBLOX etc.), but it just won't get a GPS fix, (the little red false thing). I went into expert mode and to the GPS tab and it seemed like it was connecting to a couple satellites on and off, should I try taking it outside? (though in OSD it still says 0 satellites).

The other thing is my new VTX has smart audio which I thought, I had wired and configured correctly, I can get into the settings in the OSD, but whenever I try and change settings, like pit mode on, it doesn't seem to save it, and I can't change the power, frequency, band etc. so I'm pretty sure something is wrong.

Most of these GPS units only usually work outside with a clear view of the sky. So take it outside. You might also have to wait a few minutes from a cold start for it to acquire any satellite locks. Some GPS units are quicker than others but I don't know about the TBS GPS M8 module.

What VTX and FC are you using? Please post some photos of your wiring for the VTX / FC and also an up-to-date dump of your current Betaflight settings.

I have found testing the GPS function with a clear view of the sky works best and indoors I get random lock drops. Even my Beitan M8N units will eventually lock indoors, but only my Matek units will hold a consistent lock under the roof.

Sounds like you need to configure your VTx table properly in Betaflight?

Yep, that was it, cheers (the tutorial I watched didnt mention this, is it a recent thing? because I also had to update my configurator)

It's a new deal since Betaflight 4.0 I believe, a pain in the ass even with the .json files but kinda cool too.  Glad you got it licked!

Ah that explains it, I like that it kinda makes it more sure that it's gonna work, instead of just flicking 1 switch, as every VTX is different, but those json files, oh boy if I didn't have that idk if I could have been bothered, especially cause Im a noob
