Geprc SPAN Tower F405 and DJI?
#1
Hi there, i just picked up a geprc mark 2 with the SPAN Tower F405 FC all in-one and I wanted to know if I could later use the DJI air unit/setup with it? Is there a way to disable to vtx that is onboard?

this is the stack https://geprc.com/product/gep-span-f4-tower-40a/

thanks!

The VTX on that GEPRC Span F405 tower has the following power specifications:-
  • Integrated VTX with audio (48CH) (OFF/25/200/600mW adjustable power video transmission)
So as you can see, it supposedly has an option to switch off the VTX. If this is true then you're in luck because you can just use the button to set the power output to zero. Then you won't even need to have an antenna permanently plugged in to prevent damage. Just make sure you don't inadvertently switch the VTX back on with no antenna attached, and disable the IRC Tramp protocol in the Ports tab so that Betaflight won't try and switch it back on again.

Ahh thank you! now to figure out what light sequence means off lol. If it does happen to power on and i have an antenna in there incase, would that likely cause interference with the dji setup?

Yes, it's a possibility because both systems run on 5.8GHz. People have asked before in the past if it is wise to run both an analogue video feed and a digital feed at the same time, and the answer has been no. So I would avoid that if you can possibly help it. In the worst case you may have to look at getting a different flight controller. You can keep the ESC because any flight controller will be able to hook up to it. Hopefully though you'll be able to completely switch off the integrated VTX so you won't have to do that.
