GEPRC Mark 5 - Goes full throttle unexpectedly
#1
Hey everyone - looking for some input / suggestions on what's happening with my current drone setup.

Drone: GEPRC Mark 5 - with DJI 03 and ELRS (bought BNF through Pyrodrone)
Radio: Radiomaster Zorro Max - using the standard Toro Profile that came on the radio
Goggles: DJI FPV Goggles (V1 - 4 antennaes)

So I've got everything communicating - the issue is that when i arm and start flying - if i keep my throttle movements slow and minimal, i'm able to keep control - but when i start moving the throttle stick past 30% or so the drone will sometimes - momentarily go full throttle - and i lose throttle control. The only solve is to dis-arm the drone which obviously causes it to fall out of the sky.

My search results show a couple things:

Airmode - i haven't looked into this specifically - but did find this post in the forum: Gyro Issues - not exactly sure if this could be it - and i can't seem to find the reddit post that discussed it.

Weather hasn't been great here in the PNW last week so i haven't gotten any decent videos of it happening. BUt i'll work on that this weekend.

Just wanted to get a post going to try to see if anyone else had experienced this....

Thanks

If you are running default PIDs or one of the proven preset tunes then the most common causes of that type of flyaway issue is one or more of the following:
  • Loose frame screws -> make sure the screws are all really tight.
  • Loose motor screws -> make sure the screws are tight enough to hold the motors flat to the arms but to too tight that you strip the threads from the motors.
  • Loose stack screws -> make sure all screws are fully tightened.
  • FC hard-mounted without anti-vibration gummies -> make sure the FC is soft-mounted.
  • Wires touching the gyro chip and transferring vibrations to it -> make sure no wiring is touching the gyro chip.
  • Cracks or delamination in the carbon frame or/or arms -> check the frame for any damage including any hairline cracks using a magnifying glass.

Okay - awesome. That's a great list that I can check on later tonight! Appreciate it.

I'll report back!

Maan - so i get some batteries charged, see a clearing in the weather and get ready to head out - only to realize that my Radiomaster Zorro batteries are dead - I think i must've left the radio on?

And now i'm getting a blinking red light while i try to charge them...from my reading...i think they might be dead?

I bought these: https://pyrodrone.com/products/900mah-18...c8d3&_ss=r

Google led me to this reddit post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/fpv/comments/sr..._charging/

That makes it sound like if i leave the batteries in without using the controller they can fully drain?

I've ordered an external battery that uses the balanced port so i can hopefully avoid this in the future.

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this...

One thing Snow did not mention, but was mentioned in another thread, is whether the Zorro throttle stick is putting out smooth ramps from min to max without any up or down spikes. You can check this in the receiver tab in BF.

I'll check through this once I get my new batteries and can power up the controller.

Great tip though.

Thanks.

Okay - finally got around to testing this out...I think everything is tightened down. I've been able to narrow down the "when" it goes full throttle to any time i use the left stick to yaw left or right at all.

I'm going to test the smooth ramping of the throttles next - maybe run through this tutorial:

But open to any input if someone has experience full throttle happening after left/right yaw input?

Thanks!
