GEPRC F4 A35 2 versions
#1
Hi,

I have 2 GEPRC F4 A35  AIO boards (one is in my Cinelog25 and the other a spare , yet to be used for other project)
The 1st one has the old gyro while the nw one has the BMI270 gyro.
I flashed them both to same FW (4.3 and currrenly testing 4.4 nightlies for fun) .
I tried to dump the cli from the old on the new as besides gyro they should be identical, then applied the BMI270 preset.
It gave me something wierd and after trying one by one which parameter caused the wierdness it was the overclock to 120Mhz on the old that spooked the new.
The symptoms are that the quad image on the setup page rotates very slow when i move the FC around. Like at half the speed of my rotations/tilts etc. If i set overclock to default and then recalibrate the accelerometer it is normal again and matches my moves without any delay. CPU load was at 22% so i feel the gyro/accelerator cant take this frequency somehow.
If i set the overclock and try to recalibrate accelerometer, it flutters wierdly during calibration as well. But after it has the slowness

To exclude my own cli copy from the old, i also just used BF 4.3 presets (toothpick + bmi270) and then same thing. Just touching the overclock parameter does this.

Anyone seen this before ?

Second question. Can i set the PID freq to 3.2 (it defaulted to 1.6 with 3.2 as gyro speed , the latter as expected) or better to leave it at 1.6

BMI270 is fairly new and Im not sure there are enough boards out in the wild with this gyro to build my understanding of it and how the quads perform with it.

Chris Rosser has done some tests and shared a video along with his recommendations which maybe worth a watch although he did not specifically cover PID loop frequency but does mention some filtering suggestions:

Thanks will have a peep.
Only going to use it in a few weeks for a new build so this is just the 1st appearances of this new naked aio board that caused me some eyebrowing. So no hurries and eventualy will figure it out if it is at all relevant to it flying or not.

Personally all my FCs have the MPU6000 gyro chip which are 7 in total and 6 are on quads that fly while 1 is for testing.

I have literally paid more for an FC with a MPU6000 over other ICM guros gyros in the past because I just wanted to avoid any complications.

Moving forward as the MPU6000 is getting harder to source, we will have to adapt but hopefully the Betaflight code also matures out in terms of support for the new gyros.

EDIT: I hate the spell checker at times.

Yeah that would have been my choice and the 1st one with the MPu6000 i bought myself. The Second was was send by geprc as a replacement for a doa 20A version that was originaly in the cinelog25 bnf. And they only ship BMI270 equiped versions by now.
As it took like 6 weeks in the end to arrive from china (and beeing stuck at customes for 2 weeks of that) , i lost patience and searched that same aio online and found some old stock one that shipped in a few days, which is what is now in my cinelog beeing happy with the old gyro.
So there surely are lots of boards still around with the old gyro in different stocks. But these eventualy will run out.....

and yes auto type/spellcheckers are made in hell
