0 Hi All
I have a FRsky Rx believed to be r-xsr in an Eachine Cvatar cinewhoop.
Problem is in binding to a FRsky x20 which is access but can select accst d16 in its module. Or if needed I could use an external 4 in 1 module for d8.
How can I tell what firmware the Rx has.? It doesn't seem to bind to accst d16.
If I were to change the Rx for a nano elrs Rx such as vantac. Would I need a 4th connection wire for telemetry as the r-xsr only has 3 wires black red and green which I assume is sbus?

786 02-Oct-2023, 11:27 AM (This post was last modified: 02-Oct-2023, 11:28 AM by SnowLeopardFPV. Edit Reason: Additional info added. ) There is no way to tell what firmware is on an FrSky R-XSR receiver. The only way to know what firmware it is running is to explicitly (re)flash a known type version to it yourself which you know is compatible with your transmitter.
An R-XSR only supports the D16 or ACCESS protocol firmware. It won't bind in D8 mode. If you can't bind in either ACCESS or D16 modes it may have D16 FCC firmware on it which isn't compatible with D16 EU-LBT firmware (which I guess is the firmware that your FrSky X20 is probably running).
The whole FrSky ecosystem turned into a horror show a number of years ago with multiple types and version of firmware which are all incompatible with each other. Unless you have a specific reason to want to continue using the R-XSR receiver, I would advise saving yourself pulling out all your hair by just swapping it out for an ExpressLRS receiver. Otherwise just flash the R-XSR with a known version of firmware as mentioned above and then try binding to it again.
If you want telemetry with ELRS then yes, you would need a 2-wire connection to the UART.

20 Being a survivor of the Frsky mess… I moved to crossfire (external module) and have not looked back.. I still use D8 for my whoops with the spi d8 rx .. but my other stuff is strictly crossfire..
ELRS was not even in the picture at the time..(wish it was)… crossfire is great but $30 a pop for a rx isn’t exacly wallet freindly…
If I had to make the decision now.. I would get the ELRS external module and not even give Frsky a second thought!

0 Does anyone know the wiring diagram for the Eachine f7 flight controller in the Cvatar cinewhoop? Trying to change the Rx to an elrs with 4 wires. The original r-xsr uses only 3

0 Ok I've found the FC wiring diagram so now I need to choose my elrs Rx. I have a choice of 3... 1st has a single strand antenna , 2nd has a ceramic antenna, 3rd has a T antenna. Which is best? I'm also soldering in a m8 GPS module.

0 Is it at all feasible to convert a cinewhoop like this into a freestyle drone by getting a 3 or 3.5 inch frame and transferring all the motors and electronics?

0 I am thinking of going for either a diatone Roma f4 frame for 4 inch props or a DARWINFPV BabyApe 3.5inch frame.
The motors I have are 1507 2400kv for 6s. When I measure their mounts do I measure across as a square eg 9mm or do I go across the diagonals which is 12mm?
Any advice as to frame choice would be appreciated
