I keep seeing reviews of these pop up everywhere but I never really took a lot of notice and just passed them off as a gimmick. I should probably try some because they would be really convenient for my situation.

I now generally need to go out flying "by stealth" with my quad hidden well away inside my rucksack instead of strapped to the back so that no-one will see what I'm up to. Having to take the props on and off every time I go out flying is starting to become a PITA. If these worked well on my quad they would be the perfect solution

I got some from Banggood and got here in a week. With foldable props, quads look less deadly and smaller haha

Do 5.1" props fit on the Martian II 220mm frame with the standard arms? I'm currently running the 5" Cyclones and they look really close to the frame already

i am not quite sure about the 220mm version, but works fine on the Martian anniversary edition which i used for the testing. I think they night have slightly different size?

Edit, actually the anniversary frame is 215mm... even smaller than the normal 220mm, so maybe it should fit?

They must be really close to the frame on the 215mm Martian Anniversary frame. I just measured the gap between the tip of the 5" Cyclone and the front stand-off on my 220mm Martian II frame and the gap is only 3mm. 0.1" is 2.54mm, so that would make the tip of the prop 1.27mm closer which would leave just a 1.73mm gap from the tip to the stand-off. Seems a bit close for comfort  

The DJI Mavic comes with folding props. And they work fine. I am surprised that it took this long for someone else to marketed them. Especially for the larger quads.

I bought the Lumenier folding props for my source one 7" and wasn't impressed with them. They're pretty flimsy and seemed to make my quad fly unstable. This made me skeptical of these but i might have to try them out. i like that you can change out the individual blades. Can you buy just the blades? It would be convenient to just buy a bunch of blades and swap them out instead of the entire prop. It would be easier to store in a bag that way.

I don't think so. You would have to rely on donor blades from other damaged props or just but some complete props to use as spares. That said, due to the construction it seems that once you've assembled a prop, there is no way you are going to get the centre hub apart again without the high possibility of breaking or damaging it. So if you do damage a single blade, the whole prop will likely still be a write-off. One other thing to keep in mind is that they seem to be lacking the punch-out power of other blades from one of the reviews I watched (HERE), especially for people who are used to the Cyclones.

I will probably still stick a couple of sets in my basket ready for when I next place an order and try them out for myself.

i am not sure about changing blades in this state, once you assemble the hub, the plastic parts "click" into place and impossible to take apart again unless you break the plastic.

After reading your review I thought the same thing. I've been reading other reviews and advertisements for these props and they made it seem like they were interchangable and you could mix and match to your hearts content. Even so they are still a cool idea and would take up little room in a field pack.

That was a very informative video. It answered a lot of my questions. i noticed a lot of jello in the test flight as well shich was one of the problems i had with the lumeniers as well. as soon as i ditched the lumineirs, most of the jello went away. I do fly the cyclones and do like them(i bought like 12 pairs of them so i better like them lol). thankis for sharing this video man. i think if i do buy them it may be just to test them out and maybe try to take one apart to see if it is possible.

No problem. He's just a small time local UK guy who tries to help others in the hobby with some of his videos so I support him by following his channel and watching his content.

I also bought a ton of the Cyclones when I first started out a couple of years ago thinking I would need a load of spares, and I still have 8 or 9 brand new unused pairs left from that original purchase. They just never seem to break. I was only ever forced to replace one after my quad had an argument with a metal post and a single blade went AWOL. All the others have only ever been replaced voluntarily because they started looking a bit tired and scraggy. I wonder if the new foldable ones can live up to the same standards.

Yeah I've crashed and had them bend on me and i just bent it back and kept flying lol. They're pretty indestructable. I've read that the folders have the same durability but haven't seen anyone crash one yet to confirm. I'm sure there's a video out there of someone who has.
