Flight controller not flashing
#1
So I recently bought a new flight controller and it won’t flash. I have a xilo stax f4 flight controller and I tried to flash it on beta flight with the stm32f405 firmware but it said it failed. I looked up other ways so I downloaded the drivers and the zadig program off of betaflight and that doesn’t work either. What should I do??

You should try Impulserc driver fixer first. If this does not work, then follow below.

If you are downloading Zadig, I assume you are using Windows. When you boot into bootloader mode, what device populates in the Device Manager.

I haven’t tried impulserc yet but to answer your question it loads up my oculus stuff, keyboard , mouse and a flash drive

I think you misunderstood. When you plug your FC into the computer, under the device manager windows, a new device will populate. When you plug the FC in bootloader mode, a different device will populate. I want to know that device is. It will either listed under the Port or USB tree. I am trying to see if you have the proper driver.

If you boot into bootloader mode, you should see STM32 bootloader under the Universal Serial device tree

Also impulse driver didn’t work. It just searched for a fc for 10 minutes.

I have been asking you what actually populates in device manager when you plug in your FC in regular and in bootloader mode.

Also, just to add a few basic questions that may aid anyone who is trying to give you help...
  1. What FC is it (make & model)? A link to where you bought it from would also be useful.

  2. You are actually holding down the boot button on the board when you plug in the USC cable aren't you? (or bridging boot pads depending on the FC).

  3. When you plug in the USB cable (in boot mode or otherwise), are any LEDs lighting up and/or flashing on the FC board? If so, what colours?

It’s a xilo stax f4 flight controller got it on getfpv

I am using the bind button it’s located next to the USB port

And when it’s not in bind mode the colors are red green and blue all three. And in bind mode just red

Oh yeah. I see that you mentioned what FC it was in tbe first post. I couldn't see the wood for the trees Big Grin

I'm glad you got it sorted. Sometimes it's all too easy to miss one of the most obvious things.
