#1
First few flights in my local part was amazing!
No real issues, quad flys great and is very stable

Done my first punch out today and man she can move
Really need goggles now ,
Zero crashes as of now ,
Flying 4s and never in my life have i had any other quad in the air
Loving it so far ,
So happy to live 50 steps away from my flying space lol
So far so good.
Not tryed my gps rescue yet as iv no goggles but thats next .
Been getting about 10 minutes flying,
But it was all hovering left and right up and down.

Yes because iv not flown my quad using yaw yet lol
Only pitch and roll so far
I find with LOS its very easy to get confused with where your going,
So a set of goggles is the next big must .
Its such a great experience flying never thought id pick it up so fast or even like it as much as i do .
First thing i do now when i come home from work is go straight to the park lol

Thanks for all your help ! Because it was you mostly that made this a easy experience for me and thanks to the other guys also ,
I believe you are doing a huge service to the hobby.

Perfect! You'll love fpv. I think fpv lets you progress quickly with fewer crashes then los, at least that's my experience Smile get some goggles right away. I don't know if you installed a buzzer, please do that, it helps a lot finding your quad, you will need it thrust me Smile

With a light touch on the yaw, you will be making smooth turns in no time! Great times, the first flights are unforgettable Smile

I never really got around flying LOS, I'm no good at that.
Like everyone said before a set of googles is a must, Hell I'm using a budget set of Quanum DIY V2 Pro and I'm not feeling the need for an upgrade at the moment. At least when I do I can source parts to a ground station or something like that.

Please, as I've read that you made 10min of your LiPo, make sure you don't land when they are too low. Can you measure the voltage of when ou land?

Nice tip! There are some small buzzers/voltage testers that you can attach to your lipo so you don't discharged all the way down your batteries. I personaly fly to 3.8V per cell, resting voltage, so I can bring my batteries home and just store them like that. It's also healthier for your batteries in the long run.

10 mins is easily achievable on a 1500mAh LiPo (assuming they're that capacity) just gently hovering around. I've been getting 8-9 mins on a 1550mAh LiPo just cruising around slowly in FPV acro mode without doing any acrobatics. I land at 14.0V, and after resting the LiPo it usually comes back up to around 14.8V. When back home I then storage charge back up to 15.2V before putting the LiPos back in the ammo box.

With goggles it's easy to monitor the voltage in the OSD. If you have a receiver that can transmit telemetry then for LOS flying you can set up audible warnings on your transmitter for minimum VFAS so you know when you need to start thinking about landing. If you don't have telemetry capabilities but you have a buzzer on your quad then you just configure Betaflight to sound the beeper when the LiPo hits a minimum voltage threshold. The last resort if you don't have any of those options is an old fashioned battery voltage buzzer board mentioned by brnmd that you just connect directly to the LiPo and leave it attached on your quad while flying. It will then start beeping when the minimum threshold is reached.

For LOS I suggest just sticking to angle (stability) mode unless you want to invest time becoming an expert LOS pilot. You'll still have plenty of LOS fun in angle mode with the safety net of being able to let go of the controls knowing your quad will then just sit upright in a hover position if you get into a panic, and/or it gets a bit too far away from you to, and/or you lose track of orientation. However, keep in mind that it will still drift with wind etc. when in stability mode because Betaflight doesn't have any GPS position hold capabilities. When you switch to FPV, try and start using acro mode as soon as you can. I recommend enabling Betaflight's "Acro Trainer Mode" option which gives you a safety net when you start off learning acro.

Another thing I found really useful for LOS flying is to stick some LEDs on the back of the quad, and stick different coloured props on the front/rear with duller ones on the back and more brightly coloured ones on the front. Both of those really do help with visual orientation. On my old toy grade quad I never had either of those and as a result, on a few occasions I nearly lost it because I thought I was flying it towards me when it fact I was flying it away from me so it just got smaller and smaller making it even more difficult to see what direction it was facing. With FPV flying you don't need to worry about any of that because you're actually "sitting in the quad looking out the front window" Big Grin So you can see exactly where you are and exactly where you're going. FPV is a whole different experience.

Everyone loves to see videos so try posting some footage even if it's from a ground camera showing your LOS flying. It doesn't matter how good or bad you are (I'm also still a crap pilot at the moment LOL), because it's all about YOU having fun and everyone on here will always give you encouragement no matter what your skill level is. Just remember that everyone was on the bottom rung of the ladder when they started out flying quads. Some people just progress quicker than others Smile

Thanks for all the tips guys , i have a buzzer and leds on the back of my quad and on my tx iv got voltage read out,

Iv also set up in beta flight a warning for 14.4 volts ,
Also i have my vtx in pit mode till i get goggles so that would help with my 10 minutes flight times , 4s 1300mah

Today i tryed my first acro los and my quad ended up flying away from me way over and out the park through trees and landed on the side of the road ,,,,, only for my buzzer i would never have found it .
Won't be doing that again!
My first real big crash , glad my battery stayed in place.

Wish i knew how RC ADDICT on you tube pulls it off so easily?
I will be getting goggles this week ,
Iv still to test my gps out .
Again thank you all for the tips and support
YouTube ruined the video but ,,,,

Well done. Looking good Smile That was a brave LOS punch-out with wind that strong (or at least it sounded that way on the mic) Big Grin

Looks like you got a nice park there to practice in and some handy goal posts to use as gates to practice flying though Cool

Your video actually looks OK IMO (I've seen far worse), but if you want videos that don't get mashed up with poor compression algorithms, create and account on AirVuz and upload your videos there. Just be aware that only quad and drone related video uploads are permitted on that site.

maybe the SD card needs formatting. Check manual and see how it's done inside the DVR, sometimes you do it on your computer, but the DVR doesn't like the format.

Hi Oscar , yes i formated it , but strangely enough it was working fine then stopped working then out of nowhere it worked again.
Seems like some glitch .
I was really looking forward to seeing my flights from my quad .
Ah well
Here is another video taking today

Acro trainer is your friend . you learn muscle memory for acro, and don't pick up the bad habits of balance mode.
FK.
