Fatshark Receiver Module Portable Display
#1
I have some spare parts laying around so I thought it would be an interesting weekend project to build a display with the Fatshark module Smile

Should be great for spectators and testing gear.
Still working on the 3D printed box, I will share the files along with the build log and parts list once it’s done Smile

Once I have a new set of googles! (Have some doubts between Fatshark HD3 or HD2T) I'll make the same with my Quanum DIY V2 Pro and Diversity receiver Smile
What screen do you have?

I had a similar idea. I have a bunch of module laying around. Glad you took on the task.

haha Smile
I enjoy playing with 3D printing - it's just the printing takes way too long, 5-6 hours to print the box!

I was going to use an LED push button, looks awesome. But I mistakenly ordered the momentary ones LOL ordered again and still waiting. Meanwhile using a toggle switch for testing.

A bit of sanding and painting and should really look like a product ready to be sold Smile
I always prefer to add a bit of chamfer or fillet along the edges, makes it look a bit nicer in my mind.

Will do all that after the internal design Smile the shape can change so no point making it look nice now

This looks really good Thumbs Up I did wonder what that cut-out in the top left was for but now I can see Cool

I don't have any 3D printing capabilities but it always wonder how much this sort of R&D costs to do because some of these larger items appear to use quite a lot of filament, and some of the filament reels don't appear to be particularly cheap. So it seems that there can be quite a lot of wastage if something goes wrong during printing, or if you need to redesign and do a complete new reprint again (maybe multiple times).

It can get expensive, but when you want something that you can't buy anywhere, then it's worth it!  (Not to mention the excitement and pleasure of seeing your own design come to life!)

Also, some filaments are "recycleable".  You can take all that "wastage", grind it up, and make new filament with the right tool: https://www.filastruder.com/products/filastruder-kit

Material isn't too bad, it's the design that takes time, especially the wait for the print to finish so you can make additional changes that is costly.

I get a roll of 750g filament for £20 to £30... each of these boxes uses around 80g of filament, I think I need to print up to 5 to get this box perfect... so £10-£15 to design this box Big Grin

but you can get some really cheap filament just for prototyping, £12 for 750g Smile

Redesigning the module bay.
I tried to clone the one in the Fatshark goggles, the idea is we can use the original module covers for protection Smile
I will add a dip switch too for changing channels... so this display will support nearly all Fatshark modules (except the split modules)... even the old ones without screen.

Bought a cheap 4.3" display on BG, but only just found out it's a "Blue" screen that doesn't show snow when lose signal.

Trying to get a solution in this thread:
