To add to what iFly just posted, if you fly within Visual Line Of Sight as per the prescribed regulations, then there is no need to crank up the VTX power. If you need more than 25mW of power then it either means you are flying further than VLOS, and if you need to crank up the power so you can fly behind trees or other objects then that is also breaching the VLOS rule.

The bottom line is that 95% of FPV pilots are flying illegally even if they think they aren't. It's almost impossible to fly FPV legally and means you just need to be careful not to get caught or draw attention to yourself from a Karen who hates drones.

I don’t agree with the rules and regs. I also don’t think that anyone else should control the airspace above my property to a reasonable height, or that someone else should be able to own the mineral rights below my home. But they do, so…. I do my best to follow the law and work to change what I can.

I was just having fun with the thought experiment of how I could set up a system where an rc car and quad were on the same channel and could be switched between with a toggle of a switch, and felt that it was also necessary to state that I have no intention of doing that.

I do not in anyway look down on those of you who have the balls to knowingly break the law and work on ways to avoid detection. I’ve just already more than surpassed my stress limit in life this last year and a half and I don’t want my escape from that stress (my hobbies) to add any additional stress- which means following any rules or regulations to the best of my abilities.

I would love to be able to try long range stuff, it sounds awesome. But, around here, I’m pretty sure my quad would get shot out of the sky, or I’d get shot if I tried to retrieve it after crashing on someone else’s property.
Dangerous operations.

Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.
