Ok, I don’t do “reviews”, and I know a lot of others have covered this set up.. but by wife got a grant and added this to her fleet of Tinyhawks…this makes #5…( I told her to buy a bunch of 1s lipos)..
I was curious just how “plug and play” this set up is.. when she got the bnf TH IIs all I did was charge the batteries.. the quad had already been bound from the factory and the goggle and vtx were on the same channel.. it was literally just a matter of finding the arm switch…
So as things are charging I’m looking at the components.. same “fc”..except this one looks a little thicker.. that’s good I guess.. the camera has changed looks like it has more protection.. and the frame looks more durable (we shall see)..
I do like the controller, it doesn’t feel like a “toy”, the gimbals are better than the other bnf with the flat tops.. these actually have decent finger grips.
The goggles are a definite improvement it detaches AND can be mounted to the controller (DJI STYLE), I like it so more than one person can view ..
Gonna load this into betaflight, see what the rates look like, what bf version, and PIDs…
Bf 4.2.1, same firmware target.. pid loop is 8k/8k.. and air mode is permanently enabled..
Rates are 2.0-0.0-0.6 with 400 degrees of rotation..oh, .30 throttle expo
3 different rates.. looks like as a pilot progresses they can “turn things up.
Modes look set up, to include “beeper” AND “flip over after crash”..
Vtx table set up..
So far so good…..HOWEVER, I have discovered a few things not so good
1-the capacitor is on the plug end.. can easily get damaged.
2-the rx and vtx antenna are stashed inside..more durable but kills range
3-THEY USED MOTOR PLUGS AGAIN!!! This was one of the biggest issues with thinyjawks..’maybe they plugs are better..the fc has motor pads on the end of the fc for anyone thar may want to correct this.. easier than the original fc
Ok… here is my FIRST impression… ?..
I would buy this for my kid or nephew ANY DAY!
Not only was it bound, the vtx and goggles were set up on the same channel..
PLUS, the rates and controls were 1000% better .. I would recommend this for a entry level for anyone.. YEAH, you will still need to learn betaflight .. but you don’t need to in order to get this flying..
I would have been nice to have the switches “labeled” so a new user could identify each switch (arm, acro/angle, turtle.) but honestly .. this has to be the easiest, stressfree entry.. almost as easy as a tello (dare I say)…
(I copied this from RDQ forum.. pics are there.. love this forum.. it’s just not phone pic friendly)
I hope this helps someone ..
