Dji osmo action 2 ....modular
#1
Dji Osmo Action  camera has fallen by the wayside in the last 2 years to the Fpv community  but there's  a new one coming soon.

There's  a leak as usual and here's  some info about it.

Modular in design. You could use it like Session 5 (56g) without the screen attachment ( extra 64 g).

That got me a bit excited as I haven't  moved on from my Session 5 to full size GP Hero 7/8/9. May be my days of punting buying used Session 5 on ebay is over.

This could be a Session 5 killer. And lighter.

Oh man thank goodness I *just* sold my Session 5s lol.

Interesting.

This might be the first DJI product I buy if they include gyro data for stabilization.

I would be extremely surprised if DJI provide gyro data for independent stabilisation of the footage. They have their own stabilisation technology called RockSteady so you will probably just be stuck with the output from that.

Tough sell in that case. I am not locking into a closed ecosystem.

All true. But you already know how this plays out. Nurk, AndyRC, Albert Kim, and the Rotor Riot circle jerk will all make videos of how awesome this is (while not really using it) and everyone and their mother's sister's parakeet goes out and buys one, rinse, repeat.

Hard to believe what most of them recommend.

Funny thing AndyRC and Albert Kim did back to back flying in the dark videos with a flashlight strapped to an iFlight Evoque.

The price and spec of the DJI Osmo Action 2 camera has now been leaked. Details over at DroneXL HERE.

The official release date will be Wednesday 27th October.

And hold onto your hats.....it's going to cost $400-500, plus the additional cost of any accessories you want on top of that.

Expensive at that price point for an action camera from DJI.

Some FPV pilots may be interested in 120 FPS at the highest resolution, which only Hero 10 can currently do. Hero 10 is heavy, but provides standard meta data for reelsteady and gyroflow. Hero 10 overheats, but that's not a problem for fpv. Without seeing the final tests, for most fpv pilots who are not afraid to bang the drone on the ground, this will probably not be the case, although some probably hoped so. At least until someone shows what Osmo 2 will look like with ND filters, which do not even exist yet, after being beaten to the ground. The price is, in my opinion, quite exaggerated. And the need for rocksteady will probably only bury the whole thing.

US$400-550....ouch.

Runcam Orange and Session 5 will do me until they are discounted or buy used in the future.
