DJI air unit binding...
#1
I have a DJI FPV Drone and V2 goggles...
I've activated the goggles with the DJI FPV drone and that all works perfectly.
I love it.

I also wanted to build a CineWhoop so I bought a DJI air unit.
I've activated the DJI air unit, but it won't bind to the V2 goggles.

The DJI assitant 2 correctly identified the Air unit
activated and updated the firmware.

Alas when I try to bind with the V2 goggles it wont bind.

Power up goggles and air unit.
Hit bind button on goggles and it starts beeping.
LED on air unit is green, I then push air unit bind button and it turns solid red.
Goggles continue to keep beeping...
Air unit never turns green goggles never stop beeping.

The air unit also gets so hot you can't touch it.
(running on 4S battery)

Also bought DJI V1 FPV remote to go with Air unit.
These seem to bind successfully with the air unit.

The air unit was never turned on without antennas.

Other than tpower red lead and ground black lead none of the DJI airunit wires are attached to anything.
This is all on the bench...not in a quad.

Should it be so hot?

The Air Unit's do get hot on the bench without any airflow, so it's normal. You can happily run them without antennas on and they won't get damaged. DJI have built protection into the units to prevent the internal circuitry frying itself with no antennas attached.

I only have the V1 goggles so i don't know if your issue is related to V2 specific firmware on the V2 goggles but I would try re-flashing the latest firmware to both the goggles and the Air Unit. If that doesn't work, try doing a factory reset on the goggles.

Resolved, the V2 goggles have two different modes.
settings -> about ->
Then select:
DJI Digital FPV System
To go back to FPV drone
settings->about->
Then select
DJI FPV mode.

OK, it's good you managed to fix the issue. It wasn't clear from your post that you were in the wrong mode. The DJI FPV Goggles V2 has two different firmwares in them that dual boot, so you need to boot into the correct firmware depending on whether you are using the standalone DJI FPV System (Air Units & Caddx Vistas), or the DJI FPV Drone.

If you didn't already know then be aware that if/when you switch between the firmwares you lose the bindings for the other one, which means you have to re-bind all your quads again each time you switch/boot into a different firmware. That quite frankly is unacceptable, but don't expect DJI to fix that issue any time soon, if ever.
