Whether a sensible move or not, in the past I've always been one for jumping on the latest greatest software versions as soon as they get released, but from some of the issues we've seen in the last couple of years with the likes of Betaflight 4.3, Crossfire, and EdgeTX firmware I've since become a little more cautious and now tend to wait a bit until I see enough positive (or very few negative) reports before jumping on the newest version in order to mitigate any risk of losing my quad because I jumped the gun. I'm even considering holding back on the Betaflight 4.3 final release until maybe 4.3.1 or 4.3.2 have been published. While it was still at the RC stage there will have been a limited number of pilots using it in anger. Now that it's officially been made a "final" release, every man and his dog will start installing it so we should start to see if there are any other previously undiscovered problems from a much bigger user base.
