Crusty Conformal Coating?
#1
So I bought this here conformal coating - MG Chemicals - 422C-55MLCA. I've applied it to a little whoop to protect it against wet grass and such. I applied a single layer with the included brushes. Went on easy. Smells like nail polish. Whoop flies.

My only concern is this stuff is fragile! A rubbery usb insert got covered. When I grabbed it the stuff literally turned to dust. How would it hold up in a crash if just a little pressure cracks it?

If I failed to apply it properly I would love to know. Smile

I've never had that issue with the MG Chemicals conformal coating, and I've been using it for almost 2 years now (Using 442C also) - Maybe they changed to a different formula?

It's supposed to be a rubbery consistency when cured, correct? Maybe I should have applied more layers.

Telltale sign may be the nail polish smell. May have gotten a bad bottle. What I get for purchasing from Amazon.

Any suggestions for an alternative?

Something sounds fishy. It should dry flexible.

I’m almost completely through a bottle of the same mg silicone conformal coating.

As those above said, that’s not right. I’ve used it on almost every build for the last two plus years. I’ve never had it turn to dust on me, or crack from pressure- and I crash often, and hard, and handle my boards a lot.

Since you got it from Amazon, I’d start a return and buy it from a different Amazon seller.

So I know what seller to avoid when I need to order more soon, what third party seller was it? Or was it actually Amazon?
Dangerous operations.

Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.

I got the stuff from MG Chemicals(on Amazon). At least, that's who it said it came from.

Funny enough it's fine now. I've since reapplied to a DJI antennae. I gave it a good squeeze and nothing cracked or seemed to have dried out.

So maybe it needed to be mixed? That's on me if so. Lol.
