Crosfire RX Setup
#1
I'm setting up my LR System but am a bit unsure on the wiring of the RX. Oscar's helpful pic shows the antenna and GND pads on the same side (bottom) with 5V, CH1 and CH2 going up the left side of the RX.

There are no markings on my PCB which is annoying but usually the convention is square pads for GND.

Should I go ahead and follow Oscar's GND, 5V, CH1, CH2?
  • 5V to 5V

  • GND to GND

  • CH1 (Crossfire) to UART RX

  • CH2 (Crossfire) to UART TX
As Oscar's RC and FC Connection guide (here).

Yes follow Oscar's direction and you wont have any problems. Remember when you connect them use the same uart. For uart 1-  TX1 and RX1 or whatever uart you decide to use. The binding is so easy it practically does it itself. Welcome to Crossfire! Also on the new nano's, the square pad is ground, not the other way around like in your picture. I can see if that's what is confusing you.

this guy cracks me up but it helped me many times when I first got crossfire. Bardwells video will confuse you because he tells you to hook up the wrong wires at first.

Thanks for the link wllmlutz, its bound, no issues.
For future readers, the RX light starts by flashing green.
Setup your TX by the video link (CRSF, CH1-16, crsflua script) and it automatically binds. Easy.
Now for the betaflight setup.

TBS removed the numbers and lettering next to the pads from version 43 onwards of the Crossfire Nano because people were getting issues with solder sticking to those letters and in some cases that was causing a short. And at the same time they also changed the confusing square pad that was originally on the Channel 2 pad to be on the GND pad instead which is generally recognised as the standard. I honestly think that last point was just a mistake with the original design.
